is there anything on the bottom of the base?

I have no idea...this is a little old woman that sent me the pics...I bowl with her husband and she thought I might be interested...

I'm no expert, but the sculpting resembles figures made in France to me, like something from Mignot or Lucotte.

Hi, Michael, I agree with Louis, especially if they're 54mm. They do look like Mignots, or perhaps German solids.

They also remind me of 45mm figures made in Spain by a maker called Sanquez, but his bases are rectangular, and his name is cast in script on the top of the base.

In any case, if I see it correctly in the pics, and the starting price is $5 per figure, I think that's pretty decent. Chances are, no one at the auction is going to have any idea what they are (even considering that we don't know their maker) and anyone who wanted them could get them at opening bid.

Thanks for sharing the pics, prost!

Thanks for your time on trying to identify these...

she just sent me 3 more pictures...

there is no stamp on the base...

the riders are removeable...

they are metal...

there is no bidding actually...it's an open estate sale...probably held in the deceased person's home...

that is "the price"...and they won't increase...it's basically first come...first serve...

this lady handled my father's estate...it was an eye opening event to watch my father's hobblies, passions and life being sold for literally pennies on the dollar...

I think his golf club set sold for $100.00...I know I paid $300 alone for just his driver...it was a birthday gift...

it broke my heart...to see his life priced for so little...but the process of doing it yourself is very time consuming...

Me and my sister took what we wanted in sentimental value and let the estate seller handle the rest...a sad day for sure...:(

the more I look at them in scale to the soda can...I would say they are closer to the 45mm...but I'm hardly any type of expert...

Hi Michael,

Your story about your dear father touched my heart.

I can empathize with how you and your sister felt at this very sad event.

The loss of a loved one is very painful......

I lost my father sometime back, but have managed to keep his most valued possessions.

It helps me to cherish his memory and my love for him.....

Kind Regards, Raymond.

Hehehehe...

another sentimental guy...:)...I like that...

Raymond...you're right...the memorabilia is a great source for cherished memories...

but...I think I prize the photos and the recollections they provide the most...

lots of great memories in my life...

with the loss of my Mother at 51...

and the loss of my Brother at 37...

I didn't want my Father to leave me...

it's kind of selfish...to want them to be here when it's time for them to go...

I mean...he was really sick and he was ready to go...

it's selfish...but I wish he were here now...even if he was sick and needed my care...I would rather have him here sick than gone...

when all the family is gone...holidays really suck...:(
