I noticed on the thread about the unsung heroes at D-DAY.....the one about the LCM drivers....people commenting about the young collectors in this hobby and i just wanted to say we young ones may be far and few , but i am proud to say Im one of them. Ive amassed quite the collection since i started when i was 11 or 12....im now 16 and haven't stopped and my collection continues to grow! From a very young age when other kids were watching cartoons...i was watching Saving Private Ryan, Wind-talkers,The Great Escape, Enemy at the Gates, Band of Brothers (Personal Favorite). My favorite subject in school was always History and frankly, I ace it every year. In almost every History book Ive gotten in school i would ignore the lesson and go ahead in the book to read about The American Revolution, Civil War, WW1, WW2, and Vietnam. My passion has always been World War 2 out of the bunch. From the Landings at Normandy, the Para drops the night before, to the Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes (Did i spell it right?) Ive always just wanted to learn more. What im trying to get across is, there may be few young collectors, but the few of us that are are passionate about (at least i am) and love the hobby as much as the rest of you do!!

Just my insight as for myself as a young collector.^&grin^&grin^&grin^&grin^&grin^&grin^&grin^&grin

Well a very warm welcome to the forum Dave, doesn't matter what age you are you are very welcome here. Good to have some youth around here amongst some of these old timers:wink2: By the sound of your interests you are going to fit in just fine!

Welcome aboard

Rob

Welcome aboard it is nice to see a fellow young collector around here. I always feel out of place going to toy soldier shows and venues because most of the guys there are at least 20 years older than me ^&grin

Welcome to the forum Dave, Everybody and especially the younger generation with an interest in Toy Soldiers and history is an enrichment for the forum. Hope to read a lot of threads coming from your hand.
guy:)

Welcome buddy. I hope my kids are like you in school. And as you know living in New Jersey isn't a bad place for this hobby with dealers and shows all around us. Keith

Hats off to you my friend :salute::

First, I want to say nice post. From your message, you seem like a quite intelligent and articulate person. (I’ll refrain from the .. young man .. tag)

Second, I want to congratulate you on establishing yourself in this wonderful hobby that hopefully will hold decades of enjoyment for you.
I am sure we all look forward towards you younger perspective on these topics and a fresher way to view an issue. I dare say that you appear to know more history than probably 75% - 80% of the population.

Also, we want to see your collection!!! POST pictures! -- Larry

Thanks for the welcome all!!! Ive been n the forum for a while, mostly just to get updates and things of the such. Im on every day now. Again, Thank you all!!!

Nice to have you on the forum. You remind me of myself when I was much, much younger. Others probably felt the same.

ImRader, I think we would all enjoy seeing some pics of what you have in your collection so far !

I'm was trying to remember what it was like when I was 16, but then I had a senior moment and forgot what I was wondering about.{sm2}

Welcome Dave, it's great to have young people such as yourself enjoying the hobby. I was also interested in WWII history when i was at your age and i was right into building WWII plastic model kits and reading about WWII history. I also collected large quantities of WWII Commando comics and i still have some left today. No doubt if K&C (or any other manufacturers) were around when i was a young tacker i would have saved up my money and collected them as well!

Keep collecting mate and i hope to see pic's of your collection.

Tom

I'm also a young collector, just turned 18. I was hooked ever since I was a kid, watching movies like Zulu, Hell is for Heroes, A Bridge too Far, Son of the Morning Star, and many more. I'm looking into a military cadet program next year so I may be forced to take a break from the hobby, but after college I look forward to many more angry girlfriends and empty wallets ^&grin^&grin

Regards,
Mike
