Hey guys,
I am curious as to how many of us here are actively pursuing a collection of Imperials. If you are, post here with your preferred ranges (Nap, NZ, Civil War, etc) and some idea of your wants.

It seems to me that collectors of Imperials (and perhaps all toy soldiers) seem to be most collegial and friendly and it would seem to follow that we enjoy helping each other out in our collecting pursuits.

To that end, I think we should utilize this thread as an Imperial finder and our fellow collectors as an "army" of searchers scouring the globe for the rest of the best.

If you have any pics of your collection, post those too. <grin>
I have posted pics of our cabinets but they are newly cleaned and lighted so I will be posting a new set as soon as I take them.

My Imperial want list is short but most difficult;
- One each of all of the Officers and Men sets
- The Gordon Highlanders version of Heritage Series 1.

Cheers,
D

PS; Merry Xmas and happy new year

Between Frontline and Imperial. I have a large number (for me) of both. My problem is I like them all. Some more than others. I would say I actively buy Imperial. I usually get Zulu ACW and Around Town.In the last year I have picked up 7 or 8 sets , maybe more. Been buying some of the Around Town as gifts to my fathers' wife. Now, she is starting a shadow box hobby. Different scale though.

Looking forward to the pics.:)

I have some Sudan...would buy more, but I have been losing out on the high aftermarket EB auctions...Michael

Here's the latest Imperial set I've acquired. there's only two figures because I broke the sword on the other one and haven't fixed it yet. I focus on Imperial Napoleonics but I'll buy any of their ranges except Civil War. The prices have gone up which has slowed down my purchases of Imperial and whenever London Bridge gets a shipment in, they sell out right away.

I got one of those sets with a broken sword also. It seemed like the packaging (which was in bubble wrap as opposed to Imperial's usual foam) did the damage. It was probably that way with yours as well.

Sorry to hear about the broken sword. Do you know how to fix it?

Well, I certainly don't know how to fix such an injury...

Any chance that you are offering a clinic, KV?

I'll try super glue. Ususally when I try that, the sword will fall off but my fingers will be stuck together really well.

JR., If you can, assuming that the sword broke at the base. Try hollowing out or rather try to dig out a pocket in the hand before glueing the blade back in. Then touch up with acryllics.

Hi Guys,

I have several Imperial Figures that I enjoy a great deal but what I truly wish I could get my hands on are the Heirloom sets they are without a doubt my favorites maybe one of these days I will be successful.

Anyone else have a favorite set or series?

All the best

Dave

I have a number of the Sudan sets and several from the Crimea range along with a few of their very early sets. I'm after all the Napoleonics. That will be the only series I will try to have every set for. I don't collect Town & Around, Civil War or Zulu wars. Without a doubt, I think Imperial makes the best traditional glossy soldiers. They are like works of art.

Heirloom Sets????

Heirloom Sets????

Heirloom Series 1 & 2 (sorry for the crappy scan... I think my machine is dying)

Heirloom_Series1.jpg

These came in a wood box crafted from local NZ wood and were originally released 1988 and 1990 respectively. Original price of these sets was in the area $600 US.

Rumor has it there was several sets of HS#1 that were painted as Gordon Highlanders and sold through a soldier shop in the West Point, NY. area.

Cheers,
D.

Ask Tony Ciccarello of the Toy Soldier Gallery in Highland Falls (across the street from the main gate of West Point). He's the only toy soldier shop in the area, and he is pretty well known for having special sets made by manufacturers just for sale through his store (he did the K&C winter T34 and Sherman), so its possible he did these as Gordons. I have a few odds and ends from the action Heirloom set which were sold to me by a collector who broke up the set, and they are really excellent figures.

Drum,

This thread is further proof of our desperate need to have the Imperial catalog:) I know you have a full plate, but it will be great when you release the color photos of all their sets. Although I'm a big Imperial collector, I still don't know what many of the sets look like from the Crimea and Napoleonic range.

In 1999/2000 MKL ( The Gaurds Museum) the big toy soldier shop in London comissioned a color catalogue of most of their stock. They included pictures of all their current( for teh time) stock. It is somewhat unique. There are great pictures of Imperial, Trophy, Toy Army Workshop, Marlborough, Fusilier, Kingcast etc. It is by no means a comprehensive Imperial catalogue but it is a start. All teh figures are labelled. If you contact MKL they might have some left. The last time I saw it was on sale.
