Hello: I am posting for the first time. I collected Imperial and Alymer during the late 80s and early 90s. I moved out of the D.C. area to the deep rural countryside of Alabama and lost touch with collecting. During a visit to a very nice toy soldier shop was a lady who filled me in on collecting for the past years and I didnt know Imperial was no more. She then went on to tell me that many sets of Imperial were now being made in China/being reproduced and that the older sets were very desirable etc. Can someone give me info on Imperial values or where to find this out. also is alymer being made in China now or still in Spain?? I hope to again meet collectors and begin to crawl back in to collecting.

As far as I know Imperial are not being made in China. The Cowe's are still producing Imperial sets from New Zealand, albeit just a few ranges, the only one still in full production being the Napoleonic one. For the past few years I have comitted to collecting their Napoleonic range ordering them direct from NZ. But you can find sets from all of the ranges on e-bay or here under collector classifieds. Many apart from the Nap range are indeed retired (the Zulu or American Civil War range have now long been discontinued). Another possible source comes from Mr. Norman Joplin's Old Toy Soldier Auctions. Alymer was for sale for sOme time. I have heard that the molds were sold and shipped to China. I have not seen any information on new Alymer production.
