I'm impressed with the painted metal figures I've seen on this forum so I pulled out some old Imrie-Risley CW figures and painted and repainted a few. I used acrylics as opposed to oil based and when I photographed them the results look "toy like"! The coats appear lighter in color in the photos than what my eyes see.

These are absolutely gorgeous figures and photos. Where did you get the wonderful scenics/buildings?

The type of lighting you used may have affected the color. What did you use?

Nice painting and buildings Scott. The figures look great. Leadmen

Well done, Scott! Not just the company marching off, but the Zouaves, and the boy watching them, all well done! Your buildings make a nice backdrop for the figures, too.

Prost!
Brad

Thanks everyone. The Buildings are kit bashed BMC plastic Meade's Headquarters. The lighting is just overhead phosphorescent.

I may try outdoors next.

Nice painting....I get that same problem with lights blue allways looks lighter.
again nice work.

My reproduction Union uniform looks very dark to my eye. Photos of it outside look much lighter.

More terrific work by you both in painting and photography. You have a nice little ACW museum there.

25 years later....

...I finally finished these guys that stayed packed away from several moves ago. A quick set up of the Streets of Fredericksburg 1862.

The brighter colored overcoats in the back are figures that were put away dusty maybe 22 years ago and had to be refreshed. I couldn't match the paint. (different coat contractor?)
