Zane Schlemmer died on the 21st july 2013. As a 19 year old sergeant serving in the 82nd ,2nd Bat, 508th Pir he dropped into Normandy the night of the 6th june 1944. He was an observer with an 81mm mortar section. He was dropped the wrong side of the river Merderet. Fought in the battle for Sainte Mère Eglise and held his ground for several days together with a few other paras on hill 30 with almost no food and ammo.
Lets not forget Zane Sclemmer and all his comrades.
