Some of you may have seen a posting in the K&C threads of mine so if I slightly repeat myself please forgive. So here goes, I think both lines are great. In the price range, which is even closer now, I dont even consider collecting another brand. I started collecting K&C about 4 years ago and up untill 1st legion came out bought all naps they came out with(thats the only period I collect)But since I decided to Pass on K&C russians and direct my resources to the French line of 1st legion. I intend to pick up the cavalry and British Guards as well. I will collect both brands. But what I would do now if I had not invested the time and money I have in K&C...Honestly I would probably have started collecting 1st legion. I have to give it an edge over in Quality. I think 1st legion is doing a great job. I think that the new generation of collectors especially with the pricing so close on foot figures will lean toward choosing 1st legion. Rob

Well it is probably no secret at this point that I agree with you but since you brought it up I will elaborate a bit on my exposure. I had not even intended to collect the NAP period until I saw the First Legion figures. Then I got a sample of FL Barvarians, Britains British Guards and K&C British Guards and was hooked on the First Legion quality and poses. I have since picked up a dozen FL French infrantry and will have some more when they restock. I also acquired a retired K&C Kings Legion set which I am pleased to report fits nicely with the FL figures. At least it gives me some green jackets until hopefully First Legion gets around to the 95th Rifles. I also have my eyes firmly fixed on their Cavalry and British Guards. I didn't intend to collect this period but if you do, I can't see how you cannot go for many of the 1st Legion figures. They are just too good to pass up.

I've posted 1st legion vs k&C after I bought the 1st legion artillery set.... as I said 6 months ago 1st legion is the winner.

.... but seems like nobody believed me at the time being and thought I was bluffing

Well FWIW, I believed you and it fact your post was a prime reason why I tried some for myself. I think this is true for others here as well. I am embarrassed to say that my thanks for your observations are quite overdue but hopefully better late than never.;) It often takes a while for the first comments about something new to be accepted but it time I think the accuracy of your review will be much more universally appreciated. Thanks again for doing it.

It might be nice to post some figures side by side to compair.

I can post 1st Legion French infrantry and K&C Guard and King's Legion if that is helpful. I have no K&C French.

Please do. I ordered x1 Sappuer for my French army.Even if it's a little LARGE I can deal with it. Too nice to pass up.

First Legion will definitely be getting some of my monthly budgeted “Soldier Collection” money. I wish them good luck, their figures are truly outstanding. Keep them coming.

Hey guys,

Go check out the latest two mounted additions on the bottom of the workbench page that are coming out. Awesome! That Brit is really going to look good in that infantry square I am going to make.

Oooo, thanks for the heads up on these mates. These horse sculpts, especially the British one, are superb. Their bodies, muscle definition, heads and expressions are very well done and their legs are shown appropriate to their relative gaits, energetic walk for the Brit and slow, lively trot for the French. I would like to see a little more roundness in the back, especially for the British horse and relatively more top and less lower neck development, which would be more usual for a well and properly trained mount of an important officer. I am nit picking however and what is done is perfectly acceptable as is. Certainly they continue the company's impressive commitment to accurate and sharp detail. There goes the budget again lads.;):D

Ok for those who asked here are some quick photo comparisons of a few First Legion and K&C NAPs. I left them large to try and show the best detail.

I think the photos speak for themselves but I would have to say that while the K&C figures are quite good, 1st Legion has better detail on facial structure, weapons, hands and uniforms. Also the 1st Legion scaling of the weapons and hands is better. Note for example the creases in the leather chaps and jackets.

Photos are good but frankly you can not appreciate differences in detail like this without seeing them first hand, that is what I did and why I chose the 1st Legion figures. Hope this helps.

I see what you mean, they are all very nice figures indeed. I am too far down the K&C route to start with another companys range of figures, but I can really appeciate those FL.

Thanks for taking the time to show these.

Btw, you still have the tissue behind the KGL kneeling figure's sword scabbard.

:eek:LOL, the KGL's are not fully deployed yet but thanks for noticing that. One other thing these photos and my own examination has taught me is that the FL's and the KCs blend it nicely together. There is in fact less variation in size between them then there is between different vintage K&C figures.

I would just like to thank all of you for posting these great pictures. These picturs really help me. I can see that First Legion will work with K&C. I plan on buying a couple and see for myself how good they are.

Thanks,
Old Guard

That is the best way to find out OG, I feel certain though you will not be disappointed.;)

The 1st Legion figures look excellent! I can see collectors being quite happy

with them!

I'm glad I only have a handful of Napoleonic figures, I don't know how you

would keep up!

I can tell right now there is not enough room or money for the Chicago show. The plumes on the Chassuer are just WoW!
