My 10 year old son has expressed interest in WW1. Looking for some help in what type of books one would recommend covering the battles equipment soldiers tactics equipment used by the different armies. Picked up the DK book covering the war. Great start. I’ve always been a WW2 guy so this is new territory for me. Thanks for any info.

Try 'The Western Front Companion' by Mark Adkin. It covers the things you requested but it isn't cheap and is strictly a one front coverage. It is very well illustrated. It is a great starting point. Also check out the many Osprey titles related to WW1, especially the campaign titles, and the many titles related to the different nationalities troops which cover uniforms and equipment. As an introduction to the air war, try Quentin Reynold's "They Fought For the Sky'. It's an oldy but it as a wonderful basic introduction to the air war and it a book you can read to him without trouble as he might be a little young to tackle it on his own. My father read it to me and hooked me when I was around that age. I still have the copy he gave me on my 9th birthday. -- Al

For basics, I think some of the Osprey or Pen and Sword volumes might be a good start.
