I just started collecting this series...I got my very first set today...and I love them...not a weapon drawn in the entire series...no "combat sets"...I plan to post a lot of pictures...and will just keep adding to this thread...I found this Pharaoh's head that seems to work fine in scale with the set...the standing painter's paintbrush even has blue paint on it and fits right in a spot painted blue...like they were made for each other...I will definitely skip photos of sets #23 and #33 as I know they won't fly on this forum...Shannon would squash me like a bug...and I don't want to be squashed...here's a picture of my first arrival...

AE-05...The Painters...

Hello MikeMiller1955:

Splendid photo! I started the K&C Ancient Egyptian (AE) series in 2005 or about one year after K&C first started their "AE" series. Yes, the sets are really colorful and indeed different from anything from more recent centuries of history. My wife's favorite display is of my or our Streets of Old Hong Kong using nearly all K&C sets. However, my now six dioramas of these ancient Egyptians all at about 22 x 9 inches are her next favorite. Ah, K&C sets AE 23 & AE33, the dancing girls! Be brave and post their photos as well, I did back in 2010 I think it was. My "Dancing Girls" of set# AE 23 were just part of an over display of an out door patio scene that had at least 13 other figures. I look forward to seeing your future photos! By the way, where did you get the colorful Pharaoh's head?

Best regards, "Iron Brigade" /Gary

Gary...

thank you...yes they are a very colorful series...very peaceful...not a weapon drawn for battle in the entire series...reminds me of the Life of Jesus series...

the AE's...I have always wanted them but don't like to "chase sets" on here or on Ebay...once so many are retired...they are not practical to collect financially...and my problem is that I'm a completist...

I was lucky to find someone that would sell me sets 1-38 at retail...so I decided to jump in...hopefully the deal will work out and I will receive the sets...in the meantime...I had already committed to and bought 17 sets...so I will have many duplicate sets to start off...I would love to see how you display your AE's if you would post photos...

aaaaaahhhh....sets #23 and #33...from a previous conversation with Shannon about some pictures I posted from Hackensack that she deleted...and yes they were "a little racey"...I know she doesn't approve of these sets...Treefrog does not sell them in their store...and she explained that minors visit this forum so they are deemed "censor worthy"...I'm pretty sure she wouldn't want them on her forum...and I will follow my instincts by not posting them...

Always nice to see more Egyptian photos. I love the painted sculpture! Those artisan sets are really special. I tried to post photos of mine yesterday but had an odd issue with the card I used. I just started collecting in 2011 but managed to get the chariot, the first Cleopatra set, and all of the old dio pieces. Finding them can be tough, but I got lucky. I have them dislplayed beside the Napoleon in Egypt series. Sets 23 and 33 are a bit edgy, but from my own readings they seem pretty accurate. I look forward to seeing more of your photos.

Dear MikeMiller1955:

Thanks for reply back to my comments. Wow, sounds like your off to a good start with your K&C Ancient Egyptian displays. I did post (last 1/2 of 2010) photos that included the two "Dancing Girls" of set# AE23, however, as I noted previously they were just part of a whole bunch of other figures in one overall photo, plus the "girls" were facing more to the inward or back part of the display shelve so I did not get into trouble with Shannon with the photo being "a little recey", ha, ha. I also posted some additional photos of the "AE" sets in 2011 when I went from four to six dioramas.

If you want to you may send me a Private Message (PM) via the Forum at Treefrog Treasures and advise me of your regular E-mail address and I will E-mail you the photos I have on our computer of the six displays and dioramas of the Ancient Egyptians by K&C. Also, I should be having photos with an article on these six "AE" dioramas published in Toy Soldier & Model Figure (TS&MF) magazine sometime in 2012 probably. For each diorama I went into detail of the sets used as well as other items used such as palm trees, backdrops, etc.

Great photo Michael - thanks for posting. A very creative use of the pharaoh's head which looks great. I don't personally collect this series but appreciate the colour, sculpting and historical context.

So colourful, this is the series 5 years ago that got me started in TS collecting. Nice that you are now caught up this era Mike, I know you will do it justice. Here is the centre piece of the AE. Cheers, Robin.

2 chariots!! Great find!!

Looking at that great picture of the chariot just gets me thinkin. I am sure andy is probably going to come out with another one. But i did here at the time the first one came out that there were breakage problems. As for myself i have most of the items except the chariot. I should say my daughter has them. I am trying to nudge her into the hobby.

Dear Mike:

I have sent E-mails with attached photos of my ancient Egyptian displays to you this late afternoon as per your request. Hope you enjoy them.

Gary...wow...your collection looks great...thanks for taking the time to send the pics...love your palm trees and backdrop...nice job on hiding the bases in the sand too...that extra touch really sets them off...why don't you post them...I'm sure everyone would enjoy them...

Robin...I have heard so many stories of the Chariot being fragile in shipping and handling...have you had any problems with yours and if so...how did you correct them...

Heard the same stories after I got mine. Mine was fine, but I can see it is very delicate, so not surprised some have been damaged in transit. Suggest you treat very carefully whenever handling. It also is becoming rare, I am surprised you have located 2 and they are not cheap. Really hope they arrive in tact as they are such a great item it would be disappointing if they came damaged in anyway. Good luck, would like to see them side by side in a diorama soon. Cheers, Robin.

another photo of the AE series...

Mike you need to say what these Egyptians are discussing to complete the scene. Perhaps they are considering how to move this finished Sphinx to the valley of the Kings. Your collection is on overdrive, no doubt you will have the complete series shortly. Cheers, Robin.
