I think that the indian resistance against an organized , modern army is the longest a primitive tribal society could do.

The whites started to push the indians to take their lands from the 16th, 17th century and they finally won at the end of the ......19th century!

No other tribal society could resist against modern weapons and organized armies during 300 years! The indios of south America, the Zulus and other african tribes, the australian aborigines resisted much, much less time.

Sure, after the civil war there was an intensification and fury against the indians beacause the fast growing american capitalism had to be fed with new lands, and fast. The confederacy had lost and the south become for many long years a colony of the nothern banks, industries . The west areas had to be conquered as fast as possible with the force. Inspite of this, the indian tribes fought till the end against strongest modern armies and more and more modern weapons. They fought with courage and pride, also beacuse they knew that a surrender would mean their destruction ( and this happened). Still, it is amazing to see how tribes always fighting against each other and divided, whose warriors fought each for himself, could resist so long time.
