Until I found this website, I had never heard of Trophy despite several decades collecting Military Miniatures.

The company seems to have no active website and their figures are not offered by any on-line stores that I know of.

The only availability seems to be via Ebay. Are they still in business?

Aside from Ebay, is there any other source for Trophy product?

Trophy of Wales has been out of business for several years at this point. Some dealers will get and offer a set or two but the best place for them seems to be e-bay or live Toy Soldier shows. Their value and cost has gone up quite a bit on the secondary market. They are much sought after by the gloss collectors. -- Al

I collect Trophy and aside from eBay, your best bet is networking. Maison Militaire does own the business but are not really making too much anymore.

If you're looking for Crimea, not that easy to find.

Hello:

Trophy Miniatures of wales, Ltd. started in about 1973 as a full time business near Cardiff, Wales. They went out of business the end of 2006. Trophy had a splendid line of figures (all glossy with nice detailing) from assorted periods of history such as the 1879 Zulu War, etc. This toy soldier business sort of faded away in their last 5 years or so. Since they went out of business the end of 2006 their sets are harder to obtain and the prices on eBay, etc. have gone up a good bit. I visited the Trophy operations in July 1995 and Len Taylor the primary owner was a great host to my wife and I.

Thanks for the info, Gary.

I'm thinking that Trophy and K&C had similar product - until K&C started doing mat figures.

Who was first?

I guess you could say that there was not a huge difference between Trophy and K&C back in 1984 to 1994. In 1995 K&C started getting into matte painted figures more and more with the first ones being the Arnhem series on WW2. Also, by 2003 K&C figures really got very realistic as to uniforms and facial detailing. Trophy never got into matte figures except for special orders by certain customers who wanted more realistic looking figures.

K&C also issued matte versions of their Vietnam and Streets of Hong Kong series in the 90's.

I had actually bought some of the Vietnam figures in gloss though, for a friend.

(Overall, I really prefer glossy and "non-specifically posed" toy soldiers :wink2:)
