First post for me. My step Father passed away several weeks ago at the age of 87. A veteran of WW II, Korean conflict and Vietnam. In his rehabilitation of a lost leg & one eye from war injuries from Vietnam he started painting plastic military figures. He became very good but also had a photo memory as to the detailed information about each subject he worked on the last 35 years. In learned much about Military history from him. He was a Hero to me in many ways.
OK, here's my question to anyone willing to give me a little advice. A question that you have probably been ask many times.
He has left my family a lot of military related collectables. Toy soldiers mainly that he purchased over the years plus the hundreds of plastic soldiers he expertly painted.
His collection of W Britians is the most prominent with many boxes unopened along with many loose. Others include Steadfast Soldiers, Imperial, Frontline and others.
The unopened boxes with model numbers is helpful, but I am having problems finding how much he may have paid for them and how valuable they may be.
As to the many unboxed items I have no clue where to start.
Are there any guides or reference books on how to ID and maybe value out there ?
I am 62 and semi-retired, so I have a little time to work on this while having some fun. Thanks to all.

I don't really know the answer, but so this is seen by more people, I'd post it in the general section rather than in this section.

What do you want to do with the collection? If you want to sell, there may be some dealers in the are who could give you a value for the various items. Perhaps they'd also do it (for a price) even if you're not ready to sell. I suppose you could also look on eBay for particular items and see what they sell for.

Good luck!

Imperial seem to be more collectable than most. go to ebay for pricing ideas if you can. good luck
