Anyone else using Chrome see this, when you access the forum?

this modal appears over every page. I tried to create a new post about it, and it overlays the editor, disabling it:

This just started this morning, and it's only in Chrome, for me. I'm using Firefox now to post.

Running Chrome 91.0.4472.114 on Win10.

So far, I haven't seen this on any other site I've visited today, only on the forum. And I do not use Instagram, myself.

I'm checking for extensions in Chrome, any changes, and running scans, but meanwhile, I wanted to alert support, and anyone else who might see this behavior.

Brad...

I'm using Chrome in windows 10...
no issues here...
did you try logging out and logging back in?

Hi, Mike, I log out after every session, both from websites, and from my machine. I do a full shutdown when I'm done. This is definitely an issue with how Chrome renders the page.

I cleared the browser cache, but this persists.

I just realized that what's happening is that the navigation buttons that appear in the tab bar at the top of the forum page (the bar that contains the What's New and Forum buttons, left-aligned, and the Search feature, right-aligned) are rendered at the bottom of the page, instead of the bar. The Instagram nav button is the last one in the set.

I think something in a recent Chrome update is causing this. I recently notices some websites with mixed content (unsecure and secure) weren't rendering correctly in Chrome. Often that's happened after changes in browser that block unsecure content.

I'm going to keep digging at it, but I had hoped that someone from support might see this and see if he could see anything.

I checked my Chrome site settings for the site and found that "Insecure content" was set to block. That was definitely a reset to the default, but I had previously set it to allow. I updated the setting and reloaded the page, and it still doesn't render correctly, but I think it's something like this, some setting has been changed and that's causing this.

I have not been able to recreate this on either device I use. Could be a specific setting on your Browser?

Hi, Julie, yeah, I'm thinking more and more it's the Chrome instance. The page loads correctly in other browsers, and it doesn't happen on other machines I have where I also use Chrome.

I cleared the cache in that Chrome instance, and I also got Windows updates pushed out last night, and neither of those things corrected the page.

The next thing I'm going to try is to uninstall and then reinstall Chrome, and see if it corrects this. But I might just abandon Chrome altogether, too. It's getting to be more of a pain to use than other browsers. It's little things like this, that seem to occur more and more frequently, that make Chrome less convenient than it used to be.

Thanks!

OK, I uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome, and now the page is rendered correctly, with the buttons in the bar:

At least there's a remedy, in case anyone else should run into it. But this is thing that drives me nuts with so many of the more common browsers today. The smallest thing, often something you don't even know about, can cause problems, and trying to find the root cause is almost impossible. Resetting to defaults or even uninstalling/reinstalling is often easier.

Glad I don't work in app support anymore.

Prost!
