Does anyone have any special insurance on their collections?I currently just have everything under my house contents insurance but have seen some adds in the past for toy collections.Louis you must have something??Also does anyone use any kind of purchased software program for inventory purposes of K&C or any of their other toys?I currently just have all my toys listed on a Word document with a description and sets number. Can anyone share their ideas?

I think it's probably the same insurance that you'd have for other collectibles. As for software, like you I just use Word. I know for other collectible there are programs; I just don't know what they are. I had one for my jazz collection (2,000 or so cds) but didn't care for it. I know a lot of people use excel so that may be an option.

:D I use the program named 321Collect for inventory. Got it on ebay for $9.95 + S&H. Its perrty good program lets you name titles how you want them + 2 Picture.
May not be the best but it works for me. Web Site www.321collect.com

I use Excel spreadsheet for my collection and its a big file because it also has a picture for each set. I started working on a Access database but I left it on the backburner after I saw how much stuff I had to input.

How do you put pictures in Excel. Also, do you think you could share with us a sample page from your file to see how you set up things.

You might want to ask your insurance company if they have any special riders you can get for your collection because they will only pay out a percentage of the value if it is listed as part of the household items. Some insurance companies will let you list them seperately and then add an appraisal sheet for the collection. They do this with things like valuable jewelry or firearms or artwork. As for tracking the collection I have seen several people use excel spreadsheets to do this. There is also a program out there, the name escapes me, for the tracking of baseball card collections. This might work too. I will see if I can find the name of it and let you know.

Here is a screen shot. Pretty easy and basic. I guess the picture is too small to read but it list "Acquired" "Item #" "Description" "Notes" and it counts how many figures I have.

Thanks Alex. That looks pretty good.Someday I need to get digital pic's of all the sets and I think I will try the spreadsheet approach.I see you acquired the halftrack.Did you get DD10 yet?I just received my halftrack today. It was alot better looking than I expected.I really like the soldier with the grease gun. Thanks Shannon!!!
Thanks to to all the responses. As these sets seem to increase in value and the chances of replacement are almost nil I'm thinking of upping my insurance coverage.

Yes, I was able to acquire both sets. Now I need to work on the current sets.
