Hello all, :)

I am new to the Treefrog Forum. It was suggested by Mark Avery, Britains UK, as one of the best on the Internet. I don't know the protocol here, so I thought I would briefly expand on my Profile.

Like many of you, I have had an interest since I can remember in toy soldiers. Possibly the reason is I recall seeing my father in uniform and being on military bases. I have always had an interest in things military and my parents started giving me Britains, Timpo and Airfix plastics at a young age. Soon I had convinced them that I would not eat lead soldiers and I was able to get some Britains lead figures while they were still available in stores.

Since then I have collected everything Britains off and on, depending on the demands of career, family, mortgage etc. I enjoy Britains ceremonial, especially bands. However, I enjoy learning about the Second World War and I recently couldn't resist some inexpensive Britains armoured vehicles. I am pleasantly surprised by the success of firms like K&C and Conte, and I feel myself being drawn to them.

Meanwhile, I have enjoyed reading some of the posts on various forums. For example, the discussion of appropriate display cabinets has been enlightening.

I look forward to a rewarding experience.

If there are other members in Ottawa or Victoria, BC, Canada, please introduce yourself.

Hello Hugh and welcome to the forum.

I too collect Britians and I love them. However, K&C has definately won my heart lately (last three years anyway). I hope you have as much enjoyment with this group of great people as I have. Lots of information and great references and pictures. Shannon and Pete are the forum's founding parents and have done a great job (along with Brad - Jazzum) of raising us louts:rolleyes:

And you'll soon find out who are the mischevious little scamps who need keeping in check. :p

Welcome to the forum Hugh. It's a fantastic place for passing the hours away.

Welcome aboard Hugh. We all have unique but similar stories of being drawn to collect toy soldiers. I think you will find many kindred spirits who enjoy good fellowship, collecting and general B.S.'ing. Enjoy!

Hi Hugh,

I'm not in Victoria BC but I am close down near Olympia. Welcome to the forum and I am so glad to see another Britains Collector. Which series or sets do you have or are collecting right now? I have a lot of different sets but the jewel in the crown is my Durbar Display.

Hope to chat with you more soon

All the Best

Dave

Hi Hugh,

I, too, want to welcome you to the forum. As others have stated, I think you will find many friends here and you will also find much great information. As a result of participating on the forum, I have made many new collector friends that I otherwise would never have known existed. It has been a significant pleasure for me to be a part of this group. I know you will have the same experience!

Again, welcome to the Treefrog Forum!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Thank you everybody for your welcoming comments. I look forward to learning more about toy soldier collecting.

Dave, I will post a message in the Britains forum to expand on what's in my collection and my current, future interests. :)
