I took today some photos of my favourite items, uniforms and museum dioramas at the Invalides war museum in Paris. Some are details where you can see the writings, the kind of clothe from near. I hope you like it. Next time, I will put ww2.If someone has questions about the items, you can ask.

Here at first you see a painting about 1870-71 french german war. A satiric dio showing the life in a french caserne. The " reseda" uniform: a french officer conceived this camouflage uniform before ww1, but it was rejected by the french command, so that the french soldiers started ww1 in blue and red! Sorry, the "reseda" is just up on the next post.

It's quite good eh? I visited it last year and thought the First World War exhibit was the best one! There is just something about the way that the war is portrayed that makes that gallery come to life.

Cheers,

Brendan

Thanks for showing us the 1878-1918 gallery, because each time I visit Paris, I always make time to visit this wonderful museum, but I seem to spend all my time in the Modern department, from Louis XIV to Napoleon III, 1643 - 1870 and then I run out of time.

I have seen the armour because on that trip the other galleries were closed :(

Next time .......

Hi Poppo,
Thanks for sharing, like John the time I went I spent too much time, at the artillery pieces at the front Garden then on the ones on the patio, and later at the Louis XIV and Napoleonic period that I ran out of time to hit WW1/WW2.....^&confuse^&grin:cool::salute::
Cheers
Luiz
