A recent EBAY purchase (11/12 similar figures). The figures were described as being King & Country. Any help would be appreciated. I've included a scan of the base, which has "K&C" stamped.

Dear Peter:

King & Country (K&C) started production in 1984. I got my first K&C sets in circa 1992. I sold my early 1990's figures that I had on ebay starting in late 2004 & have since replaced all the old K&C sets from the 1990's with newer K&C productions since 2004. Based on my early 1990's purchases of K&C I would have to say these are not K&C figures.

But, Andy Neilson of K&C could advise on this question with 100% correctness I am sure.

Peter,

These are clearly K & C figures. I have several like the. By the way, not all of the early gloss have the company stamped on the base.

If you want, I can post photos tomorrow.

Dear Brad & Peter:

Wow, these are K&C figures?! I'll take your word on it based on the reply back by Brad noted above. The K&C stamp on the bottom of the base looks real enough I have to say. But the paint job on the figures shown do not look near as good as the ones I had obtained new back in very early 1990's. I guess it just shows how much K&C has improved over the years!

Brad

Thank you for the reply (everyone who replied-THANKS). The info is greatly appreciated. Any idea what year these were produced?

I would love to see any photos that you can post.

I will see if I can find out which year but either Louis Badolato or Lawrence Lo, who are the most knowledgeable, would know for sure.

You can say that a lot has changed {sm4}

Peter,

If you go to this brochure, you can see some of the figures you purchased.

Are you a K & C glossy collector?

Brad

I don't collect K&C glossy figures. I do collect Hocker & Imperial soldiers. For the time being, I am going to hold on to them. At some point, I will more than likely keep one of each for myself and sell/trade the others. I already have one trade offer that I am considering.

I actually searched Sager's site and did not see those. Thank you for the link!

Peter

Peter,

Glad to help. You have to look at the brochure section. That's where you'll find photos of the glossy material.

Good luck in your trades.

Brad

Peter,

Here is the set you purchased.

King and Country Collection Card 4 Back.jpg

It's set PB 1. This photo comes from a special brochure called The King & Country Collection, circa 1991. It had 10 different cards in it and one of them featured the Pipes and Drums sets, both in Khaki Foreign Service order of 1st/2nd Btns (the Seaforth Highlanders) and in Red Home Service dress with white helmets.

By the way, this special brochure is not on the Sager site. I have only seen this one time on eBay and I don't believe Louis has it although Lawrence may. It's quite a rare brochure.

Peter,
Congratulations on finding this set! As Brad correctly noted, this is an early k&c set. It should come in a blue box with a certificate, but I have seen some without. The same set was also available in red as opposed to the khaki. Again, congrats and I hope you keep the set together. Lawrence

I did not realize that it was a complete set. I am going to keep all the figures together.

Unfortunately, I purchased the set unboxed.

I want to thank everyone for the info that has been provided. Two thumbs up!

Peter
