In 2000 I visited the Maitland store in Goderich, Ontario (lovely town by the way), and I got this set among other things. Years later I saw picutres of the Grey Uniform figures on a motorcycle with a different camouflage pattern. Was the Grey couple issued like the one I show in the pictures or were the figures paired with this motorcycle because of some sort of confusion? The motorcycle is exactly the same as the one with the camouflaged figures.

No. Its not a mistake. There are a number of variants on the uniforms and motorcycles for this set. I've seen solid gray uniforms on solid green bikes, on two tone camo bikes and on ambush pattern bikes with dots. I've also every conceivable combination of summer and autumn camo uniforms mixed with gray or winter white uniforms, i.e. solid camo, or some camo mixed with some gray or white clothing. I think it was pretty much whatever Gordon felt like having the painters do on any given day.

All I can say, Gil, is you're a very lucky man :) When I had been collecting K & C for a few months, I went to ebay to see what they had. By that time I had a WS 13 Hanomag and I saw the winter version for very little. I said that's weird, someone painted it white. Also saw a Panther like that too. So I passed. Later my local dealer said those were the winter versions. By the time I went back on, the auctions were over. Live and learn.

I guess we all have stories like that. The sad thing is that in those days you could actually collect most of the stuff as it came out. These days I have to make hard choices as to what to collect even though I like most of the things that are being produced.

P.S.

Thanks for the information Louis.
