I thought that was Foster's lager ;)

I do know that if you drink Foster's and Stroh's, you'll get the most horrible Bierfurzen known to man.

Prost!

Ok there is a serious need to dispel this myth that Fosters lager is actually drunk by Australians, the answer is a difinitive no way, the stuff is one peg below wombat pea, I can assure you that most Aussies would drink Kiwi beer first and Fosters never, hope that puts matters in order.:wink2:^&cool:rolleyes2:{eek3}
Wayne.

I can understand why, it's horrible.

That's OK, no self-respecting German drinks St. Pauli Girl, either, but they market it here like it's the best-selling beer in the Fatherland. Lieber ein Franziskaner!

Prost!

It used to be by far the most popular beer here in Sydney many years ago.

When I was in the Regular Army in the late 1980's we used to have two refrigerated trucks that travelled in our convoy. One was for food and that other was considered to be "A giant green esky on wheels". {sm3} As the Army is made up of blokes from all around the country it was stacked with all sorts of beer. XXXX for the Queenslanders (those boys wouldn't drink anything else), Melbourne Bitter for the Victorians and Fosters for the New South South Welshman. I think we had Tooheys in the mix as well. Fosters was by far the most popular at the time.

After leaving the Army I went into the pub game and it was around about that time (early 1990's) that they first put VB (Victoria Bittter) on tap. At that time VB was already smashing Fosters in the packaged beer sales and then it made a huge impact in draught beer sales too. Eventually VB became the most popular beer in NSW. I couldn't tell you what the most popular beer in Oz or even Sydney is now as I am no longer in the business.

That was a long time ago and as Wayne said nobody in Australia actually drinks Fosters anymore. I think only Yanks and tourists do. :wink2:

Foster's did have some premium brands down here that were rather good "crown lager" was nice.
Not sure about the regular foster's beer that was sold to the rest of the world "as the beer that australians drink".
Never tasted that stuff {eek3}
