Santa was very good to me this year and brought me a set that I have been eyeing for quite a while. It's the Decisive Day set from 2013 that includes Lee, Ewell, and Early. I have not collected from Britains in several years due to some quality issues, even though they were the ones who got me into the hobby. So this is really my first set from any of their recent releases and I must say I love it! I might just be getting back into Britains as my main ACW line, but only time will tell as I sold almost all of my previous figures. I hope you all enjoy my very candid pictures below.

I added in General Longstreet to the set who I already owned. I like to think he's standing there thinking "this is some bull****." Haha!

I got this set for Christmas as well and I had been eyeing it for a while myself. My girlfriend surprised me with it after she vehemently declared that she WOULD NOT be buying me (a grown man) toys for Christmas. I also have the stand alone Longstreet figure too. Great minds, my friend! It's an awesome set.

Thank you for the nice comment! It's nice to see great minds think alike. I'm glad you were able to get this set as it's getting hard to locate. I see you are relatively new to the forum and I welcome you to this wonderful family of toy soldier collectors. Have you been collecting from Britain's for a while?

P.S. Grown men are never to old to get toys for Christmas. I'm glad your girlfriend came to realize that...she's a keeper! ;)

Thanks for the warm welcome! And no Sir, I have not been collecting Britains or any other metal soldiers for very long. I dabbled with plastics in my youth. I'm fairly new to the collecting "game".

This was a nice set, used it or pieces from it on a number of occasions. Chris

Yes it is a very nice set, Chris! I hope I'm able to locate the matching Union set of "Hold This Ground" one day. Obtaining this set has really made me realize how much I miss collecting Britain's. I plan on giving them the focus I currently give First Legion's ACW line and good thing both companies blend/complement each other nicely. I've learned with Britain's that if you see a set you like don't hesitate to pick it up before it gets almost impossible to find. Wish I had done that years ago with "The Chosen Ground" sets...

I used to collect (play) plastics when I was little and still have all those plastic sets in storage at my parents' house. I hope to pass them down to the children I might have one day. What all do you currently own as far as your metal collection goes? If you're a big American Civil War buff like myself you cannot go wrong with Britain's line as that is their flagship. I would also recommend taking a look at First Legion's line of ACW. I own a lot of their releases in both ACW and WWII...love them!

My collection is very small. Most of my Britains metal figures are from the Clash of the Empires collection. I love Britains Indians. I have the Decisive Day set, the Longstreet figure and the 146 NY Zouave (Collector's Club figure) from Britains. I have a mounted Stonewall Jackson from K&C as well as their dismounted J.E.B. Stuart figure. I have a few more ACW from other manufacturer's as well.

Very nice display you have there, Kirk! I am jealous. :p

All nice collections start out small then grow over time. I didn't start seriously collecting until about 5 years ago and now have what I consider to be a decent sized collection covering the ACW and WWII from 3 companies. Some of my favorites are the ACW figures done by King & Country so it's nice to see that you have the same ones as myself. I have almost every ACW personality that K&C has produced. Some were very hard to track down, but well worth it. Below is a picture I took a while back of my two shelves of ACW figures by K&C and First Legion. Only set that is not in the picture is the one of Lee and his generals that include the Stuart figure you have.

Thanks Cameron. I also enjoy collecting personalities. Lately my interest is in painting figures . But always on the lookout for some interesting ACW figures.

Here is the rest of my WB ACW collection

I've been wanting to start painting figures for a very long time as well as modding figures. I just have no clue where to start as far as paints to use, brushes, how to clean, etc. I've tried scouring the web but I just can not find any good guides to help me get started. I fear my fingers may be too fat as well, lol. Maybe I'm just not looking in the right places? Perhaps I should just go for it? Nice collection. What are they displayed in/on?

Thanks. They are displayed in a lawyers bookcase. I have inserted a board (covered in velvet) to raise them up for ease of viewing.
Regarding painting tips try Planetfigure. It is s site for talented painters(not me) but with lots of advice for beginners. There as a few other painters on TF that may offer advice as well. Give it a try !

PS also YouTube has lots of videos
