In 2010 recurs the 150th anniversary of the Italian State..in 1860 the "Garibaldi 's 1000" landed at Marsala in Sicily and conquered the Two Sicilies Bourbon Reign, later in 1870 the newborn italian state added Rome to its territory..I think (but i'm biased) that this recurrence deserve a figure (maybe not a range) , maybe a Collector Club figure, and the possibilities are great...I hope Andy will give it a thought..:)

Every year the opening dinner of the New York Toy Soldier Symposium is held at Tiro A Segno, a private huntsmen's club founded in the 19th Century by Garibaldi during his period of exile, when he lived in Staten Island, New York (his home on Staten Island is a museum). The letter from Garibaldi chartering the club hands in the Charles Rao Library in the club to this day.

Thanks for the info Louis, i know that Garibaldi was given the comand of the Northern Armies in the Civil War but due to some problems this idea was dropped..Then he fought in Franco-Prussian war in 1870 commanding a special volounteer corps..Definitely one of the major figures of our long (as people) and at the same time short (as unified state)history..and important for the american side of the continent too (in south america he was also a freedom fighter).

To celebrate the anniversary I would love to see K&C do the treatment on both the 1849 and 1859 conflicts. Perhaps K&C UK could add to their Crimean range with a Sardinian figure or two to commemorate their participation in that conflict?

The 1859 war saw the first large scale use of railways in war and the deployment of rifled artillery, plus the beginning of the Red Cross and exploits of Garibaldi's Red shirts, so there is a lot to commend the Second Italian War of Independence. There is a lot of scope for figures too, with French Zouves, Austro-Hungarian Hussars, Chassuers, Turcos, Bersaglieri and bearskin headed descendants of the first Napoleon's Imperial Guard..... the list goes on. It is an era that to my mind is sadly neglected by the matte manufacturers, especially as the biggest battles of the century since the Napoleonic wars were fought over northern Italy, namely Magenta and Solferino.

C'mon K&c bring it on.....:D

Thanks Evzone you said everything!!!;)It's something that could be linked to the Crimean Range too..after all my country can boast 2(!) participants in the greatest Charge of all times (imho):Balaclava..:)One of them , Maj.(at the time of the charge) Govone then rose to the rank of general and Minister of War, the other ,Lt.Landriani, i presume died of wounds subsenquently to the charge.
