I have seen it on ebay a few times, but I have the Iwo brochure and it does not list it. Was this some short production add on and how is it different from the regular sherman?
Gary

I have seen only one and that was about 3 years ago on ebay and I lost the bid to Louis. That is when I met him. The Sherman is in winter camo but to my knowledge has not been in a brochure. I'm sure Louis would know.

Bill

The Sherman is in the original Iwo Brochure in 1999, on both the front cover and inside on the right hand side. It was designated IWJ11, and 200 were produced. An additional 10-20 were produced as white winter shermans as IWJ11(W). It was one of the first two polystone vehicles along with the LVT2 Amtrack (IWJ7). The Sherman was so primative that I pestered Andy to make me a wood version, and after 6 months he agreed, producing 5 wood Iwo Shermans. I bought 2, and had one repainted by Andy as a 7th Armored Division, 8th Army Desert Rat Sherman with shell damage (an exact duplicate of an otherwise one of a kind wood Sherman in Andy's private collection he wouldn't sell me). There are 3 other wood Iwo Shermans out there (many years ago, one was on sale through that on-line dealer in the orient).

Louis,

The one in the brochure is the green version not the winter, correct? I don't think the winter was ever advertised?

Dear Bill,

I always thought it was in the catalogue with the first Battle of the Bulge release, but that was the green version. I guess I should break out mine and get you a picture, but it may take some time to get it out of storage.

By the way, I really went nuts looking through all my old materials, but I couldn't find the white sherman anywhere. I was, however, able to document the white T34, which was listed as RA04(w) in the Toy Soldier Gallery's 1999 K&C price list, proof that neither Andy nor I was crazy when we insisted that about 10-20 of these were made by K&C specially for Tony at the Toy Soldier Gallery (another of the true gentlemen associated with this hobby).

Louis,

I will add the RA04(w) to my list of items. I do need to get a photo of that also if anybody has one please forward one to me.

If you could fax that description to me Louis I would appreciate it. That way I will have official documentation.

I would also like to get a photo of the IWJ11(W) for reference. I would love to see the brochure with it.

Bill

Re: Bill, winter sherman

Bill, I,m the guy that talked to you a few weeks ago that has the winter sherman. Do you need a pic of it or did you want the brochure with it.
Gary

Gary,

I figured it was you. I would love both. You can email me or fax, I do have a color fax.

Thanks,
Bill

I will have to break the Winter T34 out of storage and get you a picture. I'm glad that Gary has the winter sherman, or I would have to try to find that for you too. Well, I guess its time to rummage aroun in my wife's uncle's basement.

Must be a lot of goodies down there. What's the address again? ;)

Louis,

At least thats one thing you won't have to pull out for me. I'm sure there will be many others.

Bill

Dear Bill,

As you may recall, my wife and I are planning to sell our apartment and move into a house. If we are in the house by the time the next New York Symposium rolls around (March 2006), I hope to able to pull 100% of my collection out of storage (instead of the approximately 10% for the first symposium) and between Hans, Larry and myself be able to display 90% or more of King & Country's production from 1984 to the present at one time. That would be the time to break out the digital camera. Andy has promised to come to the Symposium again, and he could walk us all thorugh it.

Regards,

Louis

Thats a great idea Louis. I think with this forum up and running now that you may have to expect a very large turnout at the symposium. I will be there with multiple cameras in hand for documentation.

I just may have to campout in your living room

Bill
