No one said anything about "Black"?
Then I can only guess you mean the famous rooster named Jack Pershing, that was responsible for raising some $40,000.00 for the war effort in WW1, specifically for the Red Cross Nursing Corps. Currently stuffed and on display in Iowa State Historical Museum.

Correct and he was brought out again after 9-11 and raised another $1800 for the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. For those who are interested, he was originally auctioned off by a farmer who had only Jack to donate during WWI. He was so mean, no one wanted him so it became a joke to donate him back to be reactioned again thus raising $40,000 for the war effort.
