I watched this movie late last night by myself and watched it tonight with my wife. It principally centers around the events following the assassination and is framed by a reporter's (Teddy White) interview with Jackie Kennedy for Life Magazine.

Natalie Portman is Jackie and her performance is simply amazing, mind blowing; there is no other word for it.

In addition, the director skillfully mixes in footage from 1963. John Hurt plays a priest counseling Mrs. Kennedy and he is superb in a small role, as is Billy Crudup as the reporter. I thought the actor who played Bobby Kennedy was just ok; he comes off as not exactly weak but not strong either.

It's all very moving and it took me back to that time when I had just turned 13. Just a very sad feeling watching it and remembering those events in our country's history. Amazing movie.

Portman' performance is one of the best I've seen and I can't understand how she didn't win an Academy Award. That they gave it to an actress in a musical is puzzling but, as my wife said, receding an award involves a lot of politics, not just merit.

Brad, I was also very impressed with this movie and Portman’s acting. Couldn’t agree more with your words!

Carlos, we were living in Brasil when it happened and it was a grim time as my parents were enthusiastic JFK supporters. Later I remember receiving special editions of Life and Look magazines and a special book, published by American Heritage and UPI, called Four Days, which I still have and read countless times.

Even in Australia, this was a life changing moment - certainty was suspended for my experience as a 13 year old.

I was a senior in HS and was in a study hall when the inter com came on with the news of JFK being shot. But I also remember the big deal it was when he ran for president that he was catholic, seems like nothing now. Also the Cuban Missile Crisis. Even as a 15 year old that was scary.

Brad, that must be a fantastic read! I was living in Washington at the time and frankly I was too small and don't remember anything from his death. My parents kept until today Life and Time magazines, as well as the Washington Post, covering those sad events. What I vividly remember was his brother's shooting during the campaign in California in 68. I was still in Washington at the time and was shocked by that assassination...

I was 15 and a sophomore in High School. The announcement was made over the intercom while in Spanish class and my teacher broke down in tears. We all ran out into the hallways and everyone was in shock, many hysterical.
I also vividly remember when Ruby shot Oswald on live TV and I ran into my parents bedroom where my mom was recovering from surgery. What a devastating time in my life.

I have not seen the movie, Jackie, as it brings back such sad memories but now I may watch it. My daughter graduated High School with Natalie Portman and she was over my house several times.
A brilliant and talented young lady who was very humble and approachable at the time.
