Doug, this purchase is mostly your fault, with Joe and Mark pushing me from behind.

Just kidding, I'm not mad even a little bit, in fact I thank all of you.:D

I love these figures, the detail on their garments is outstanding.

These are some of the most dynamic figures that I have seen. Particularly when they are displayed en masse. I'm still a bit hung up on the historical era which I'm blissfully ignorant, but they are great figures. BTW: Go Lakers! Tonight is a must win. What genius at the NBA has them playing at 10:30 EST?

Doug,

Yes, in mass they would look really nice, but they are not too shabby solo either.

John did a great job with the plaids.

By the way, I took Orlando +4 1/2 and am getting killed (56-39), and I took the Lakers to get serious this game - 9 1/2.

Hopefully Orlando can make it closer.

Well Mike! There seems to be no end in sight when it comes to your JJD collections :)

These figures have some of the best-painted tartans I have seen at this scale, a nice variety. I agree that the poses are very dynamic as they would be in a wild highland charge!

Thanks for sharing these up close.

Jeff

Nice pieces you added to your collection! I like them myself but can not start another JJD range. :)

The Jacobites are a superb range of figures. A great time period to collect that ties in with many other military campaigns through common personalities and units. Wolfe of Quebec fame was at Culloden and who is the collector of toy soldiers that has not at least heard of Culloden? It is a mere decade in the time lines to the FIW and 7 years conflicts. What a great period of study and throw in the great JJD figures and it is almost alive again. -- lancer

For the Jacobites,

If I had my wish,

I would love to see these figures,

a Highlander with a pitchfork,
a Highlander with a small hand bill hook,
a bag piper,
Sir John Cope,
Bonnie Prince Charles
some dead 44th (maybe 2 sets).

Even though, the 6th, 13th 14th, 46th and 47th regiments were there at Prestonpans also,

along with the 44th,

I would especially love to see some dead 44th the most,

to use with B of M series too.

They were massacered, out of 2,300 troops only 170 escaped.

The Highlanders only lost 30 men.

I think this series is far from complete.

Maybe, just maybe some of these figures might come out.

I have already started begging, lol.

Thanks for the pics and I look forward to seeing a massed dio in the future.
This is a great series even if the English "might" be considered the bad guys in this one !
Certainly a battle that stirs up strong feelings for the Scots.
Regards
Brett

:D:D:cool: I'm so relieved you've entered this series Mike :D Just received my first 3 a couple days ago and was dreading feeling obliged to post wretched pics of them :D
These JJD Jacobites are AMAZING-I was thrilled when they came out of their boxes and remain ecstatic 2 days later-I have to return to the cave often to admire them and am busily scheming on ordering several more. imho (h is for haughty) these are the most splendid new release in years-I may just HAVE to learn to serve two masters

Wish List: Highlanders mounted on garrons, shelties -pretty sure no-one's done such a figure yet & I don't care how silly they LOOK,this sight was once as common as bicyles-if it has to be of a particular unit The Marquis of Huntly's Light Horse in the '15.
And second and most dear wish
John Graham Viscount Dundee , Killiecrankie 1789

Best,John

John,

Yes, the Jacobites are beautiful,

I find myself re-opening the boxes and admiring them often also.:cool::cool:

Yes, you are oblidged to post the photos, lol,:D:D:D

I would love to see how you pose them.

Never having heard of John Graham Viscount Dundee, I just googled him.

Dundee, aka, "Bluidy Clavers" and aka, "Bonnie Dundee".

was an interesting figure and definitely a big name in the "earlier" Jacobite rebellions.

The Battle of Killiecrankie, if I'm not mistaken was in 1689.

I may be wrong, but I think John is trying to "initially focus on the Battle of Culloden Moor", in 1746 of Bonnie Prince Charlie against the British army, at least that's what he says on his website.

Dundee does sound like a character worth copying, but I'm not sure John will step back that far in history.

You never know though.

Thanks for the mention of his name, it was good reading.

Post the photos, lol, you are oblidged to.............:D:D:D

AAAAAARRRRGH ! I DID say 1789 !
pity-I can't retain a staff to keep me from making an utter @&$ of myself-or at least publicly ;)

Great picture,

Is that him on the sheltie?

I'm glad you mentioned his name,

he is definitely a historical part of the Jacobite rebellion.

I read some good stuff on him and the Battle of Killiecrankie.

Mike,Nope that's a bit of wildly romantic Victoriana from artist R.R. Mcian-his watercolour Mac Niel.
Claverhouse's tragic death at Killiecrankie effectively turned a resounding victory into the end of the 1689 Rising.

I have just finished getting all my JACOBITES - I Love Each One of Them ! :D

Get JJD Range and hope he does many more. I fell in love with the period during a trip to Nova Scotia. My wife and I spent a day in the Jacobite Historical Center - great place loads of information and great displays.

John Jenkins has got these guys down perfect - now off to start picking up the British Troops !

Here is my collection:

These are imho some of the best painted figures on the market today - nice collection Ron!

Jeff

Those really look good Ron, nice photos.

The detail on the plaid garments is extrodinairy.

John's painting on the garments is "top notch".

Hey Guys!

Could somebody tell me why the Jacobites cost more than the other figures, because they look really cool, and depending on how much Conte/Britains/ONTC WWII normandy stuff comes out this year, I'm considering on picking them up!

Thanks!
Vick

My guess is because of the outlandish outfits. They take more time to paint.

For sure the painting is some of it, if not most of it,

and aren't they the latest series he put out too?

Nobody's prices are going down, K&C had a similar thread the other day.

Love your new signature Doug, sounds like an old Abbott and Costello routine.

"Who's on first?":D
