Jeff Shaara has a new book coming out about the Civil War called A Blaze of Glory: A Novel of the Battle of Shiloh. It's put out by Ballantine, 2012.

It's part of a new trilogy where Shaara looks at the Battle of Shiloh. Shaara dramatizes the key actions and decisions of the commanders on both sides and includes the thoughts and voices of the junior officers, conscripts, and enlisted men who fought at Shiloh.

Jeff Shaara will be on VBS on June 2. VBS is Virtual Book Sigining where Civil War authors discuss their books and other topics and do it live and you can see it through your computer. The address is virtualbooksigning.net It's basically being at a booksigning without leaving your home. I have watched VBS many times and it's very enjoyable. The host runs the Abraham Lincoln Bookshop and is very knowledgeable about the Civil War. He closely reads every book featured on the show. You can access past shows through You Tube.

If the term "good ground" is used, I'll close the book right friggin' there.

I picked up a signed copy of his new book "A Chain of Thunder" about the siege of Vicksburg. Lord Nelson's Gallery in Gettysburg has a limited number of signed copies available of almost every book he has written including the WWII books. He's apparently around town for the 150th anniversary activities.

I almost done with the Shiloh book. His Civil War books are always good. I think I saw the words "good ground" only one time. ^&grin I didn't care for his WWII books though.

I don't how many of you subscribe to the Civil War Monitor but in the latest issue, which is completely devoted to Gettysburg, there is an article about The Killer Angels that is well worth reading.
