I had made this figure about 30 years ago. The figure was made up from some Preiser limbs and putty. The reconstructed cross was done based on Roman design for crucifying victims.

As can be seen, the cross has disassembled itself over the years. Anyway, I think that the groundwork and posing could be improved, for example, the figure should face more towards the front. Hence I have taken some pics as reference and have started to refurbish this piece.

I completely redid the groundwork. The cross was disassembled and reassembled with small nails to hold the main beams together. The step and overall proportions were readjusted.

The cross was painted in light brown, highlighted with grey.

I finally found some suitable driftwood and selected some pieces to fit into this scene. The branches are nicely juxtaposed against Jesus and the cross and balance out the composition.

I added some rocks and foliage and painted this scene. I even signed my name at his feet.
