Gents,

Just to let y'all know the Menger is booked out for the Texas Toy Soldier Show. The Show combined with Memorial Day weekend has the Hotel busting at the seems. I got a room for only Friday night and could not book for Saturday. The funny thing is that the only room left for me was in the Ghost floor of the hotel. The lady on reservation line was like "oh uh yeah we do have a beautiful room overlooking the garden, but um it is in the historical part of the hotel". Historical part? Then I got it, "you mean where there is 'ghost'" I say, "yes sir, there have been reports of historical 'activity' in that part of the hotel", "SIGN ME UP", I say.

I am a heavy sleeper, but I will not tell me son we are in the "ghost floor". But if your staying there and you see me busting through your door with an axe saying "Heres Johnny from Texas!". Slap me one good to wake me up.

Red Rum anyone?

John from Texas.

John...

I have stayed there several dozen times in the past...while it is known as the "most haunted hotel" in the US...I have never seen a ghost yet...my recipe is plenty of Dewars or John Jameson...you'll be allright...

Whatever was not booked for the show was taken by tourists in town for the Holiday weekend. I would bet the Days Inn down the street is booked as well ! {sm2}

My advice is pack a few extra pairs of underwear........

If a ghost does show up, just tell it you're me! I've sued a few ghosts in the past and they always give me a wide berth! {sm4}

I'll drop your name is the occassion arises...I would like to meet Teddy Roosevelt though...or any of the Rough Riders would be cool...Sallie White inhabits the 3rd floor...I would avoid that floor...^&grin

Brothers,

****it, I am booked on the third floor! I'll be honest I have NEVER stayed at the Menger...no need too I live here. But have been there a thousand times for Mama's day brunch, weddings and of course Kings X. Now I am getting all creeped out as I did not know the story about Sallie. I had no idea there was a murder there.

I may have to take my sleeping pills with me.
