Guys,
The whippet tank and commander figure arrived this week and they are spectacular. Amazing detail on the tank. If all of his tanks are this good he is ahead of just about all of the competition. However, I also got the US Ford ambulance. It also has fantastic detail but MY WORD IT IS SO SMALL. There is no way a JJD figure, if suddenly animated, could fit sitting on the seat behind the steering wheel and fit its head under the roof/canopy.
I am not trying to stir the pot. Maybe, it is me, but I think we in this hobby are in denial about at least some of our vehicles being too small. I guess if everyone is happy and can willingly suspend disbelief it is not such a problem. For me, however it is a big issue. My WWII collecting has stalled because of this and when it picks up again it is probably headed for FL and big $$$$, but at least I'll know that the figures and vehicles match.
For all I know the Whippet might be out of scale also. But it is a bigger vehicle and it LOOKS right. The commander figure might be a tad too big but it doesn't scream out at you like the size problem with the
ambulance does.
I also recently picked up JJD's French marching Naps and they are wonderful. He does great work and it is fairly priced. I just wish he and others would bump up the vehicle size. I'm willing to pay extra for the raw materials needed.
