this is very interesting!

”The Armies And Enemies Of Ancient Rome”, will be a collaboration between jjD and K&C.

can anyone expand on the figure on horseback?

The photo's title was "GAUL". That's all I have extra!

Yes, that's exciting to see Ancients coming into the catalog!

Prost!

That is a carnyx Celtic war Trumpet used to scare the enemy. It is suppose to have a loud harsh sound to it.

ty Julie and Mascleo...

I hope he makes some ferocious...wild...long hair...bearded insane looking figures...^&grin

Really hope this is a successful team effort between two amazing producers. Can only imagine the collectors are in for a terrific ride. Robin.

The collaboration between K&C and JJD for Rome and her enemies is a brilliant business and artistic strategy.
This series will dominate the market for the Roman era.
Hopefully there will be more collaborations from two great makers.

Ha! We'll see about that.

Seriously though it is an interesting collaboration and I'm sure it will be a success for both John and K&C as both are well run companies with solid products.

Interesting endeavor. Personally, I have always noticed a significant difference between K&C and jjdesigns when it comes to sculpt, paint scheme etc..... I'm curious how the compatibility will work out. I'm hoping it will work because I have been looking for an excuse to start collecting jjDesign figures for some time now.

Sorry Matt...."dominate" was the wrong word......"stiff competition" is more like it. FL Romans are wonderful figures and I will collect both albeit in different categories.

I'm guessing from the horseman this is going to be a late Republic line, which from my point of view is just what I was waiting for! JJ would see this through and ALL the Romans would have their horsehair!!! NO FEATHERS!

Just seen from the KC thread that they are concentrating on the Romans, which is a bit of a blow.

I would assume since JJD will be calling his new series ”The Armies And Enemies Of Ancient Rome”, that John will also be doing Romans - not just K&C.

From Andy K&C:

“Ancient Rome” has always been one of our favorite topics of discussion but for both of us we could never find the space in our production schedules to fit it in. Finally, we have .
Even years back we shared the fact that each company wanted to concentrate on certain specific aspects of the subject... For John it was “Armies & Enemies of Ancient Rome” ... For myself it was The Romans themselves, military as well as civilian.

I would infer from these quotes John will being doing the "Enemies" and K&C the Romans........

That's how I read it too Bill. It's a shame because looking at the FL figures, it is the Romans that sell and sell fast, the enemies not so well and are still widely available. Purely from a business point of view, if KC are going to make the Romans and JJ the enemies of Rome, I suspect I know which one of the two manufacturers has the better of this collaboration.

I have been collecting John's figures for 9 years now, and it has always been my impression, that he would choose a series after what he would enjoy sculpting, rather than what would be the most profitable, hence the lack of WWII figures. So I am sure John got the deal with K&C that he wanted. That being said, I would love seeing his take on a Roman centurion!

I read this as 'The Armies of Ancient Rome' as well as the 'Enemies of Ancient Rome', showing the intention of doing both. Maybe just wishful thinking on my part. - I guess we will all know in due time.

Had resisted going into Romans but with K&C Release and confirmation of what JJD will be doing resistance overcome and all roads lead to Rome

Mark
