If.....just if....

If John Jenkins ever did produce a "quick reference" catalog on his work...

would information would you guys like to see included in it?

I would like to see...

01) categorized pictures
02) set number and name
03) price
04) limited edition produced quantity
05) availability..."retired status"
06) QR's listed
07) caption contests
08) any previous Frontline work
09) your 28 mm work
10) a resource page...current dealers with website and phone numbers
11) maybe even some dioramas with his figures
12) a biography with some photos...

any suggestions...I'm curios?
 
Michael, your list is pretty comprehensive. I've nothing to add other than I would also like to see a catalogue done. It would be very useful. -- Al
 
Great idea. I would like to see the basic info:

1) a picture of each set in order - sorted by line (e.g. BOS, POA, 1812 etc).
2) set number
3) number actually produced and year released (in some cases there may have been fewer made than indicated on the collector card)
4) brief description of the set
5) dio pictures etc would be a great addition, but if it adds to the cost it might be a downside.


Aeroart/St. Pete did a two-book volume set in which they included all the figures they had produced with the basic reference info in one volume and general information about the company and its figures in another. It was outragously expensive though, but very helpful.
 
MIKE...DOUG. I am with you for a catalog...A basic catalog with picture of set.
no. of sets made. Collector sets how many made. Dioramas would be nice but lots
of work and time. Keep it with basic info. to keep cost down and give us general
info. so we know which box to put them back in. Good luck on project.
 
I am with you ......I do have last years calender and this years ........they are a great reference.......but a catalog with some of the collectors collection would be AWSOME!!!!!!!!!P.S. I noticed Sager Soldiers does not have information on Jenkins any longer .......does any one know why.?????

We have all this info. already from John's own website. What more do we need?
 
I will miss Sager's Page which was a great source for the earlier releases especially the Frontline releases of JJ's work. I am unsure if these releases are shown on the current JJD web page, but I know QRR-1 isn't shown.

Of the information in the wish lists, the piece I would like to know is the actual number produced and distributed for each releases. For some sets, the rumor is the planned number was higher than the actual release number, so having this would be nice .....

It seems Sager has gone heavy K&C, so can I get some clarification on your post " Rumor was that he gave up his franchise to sell Jenkins..." ??? Should it read, "Rumor was that he gave up his franchise to sell K&C"????

I like to have something in my hand instead of running back and forth to the computer, calling up the website, scrolling through the web pages, finding the right one, clicking on each picture... Maybe it's an older generation thing, but most toy soldier manufacturers still have some kind of publication materials.

I am with you !!!!!!! I even enjoy reading my catalogs in bed before going to sleep so I can dream about them!!!!!!!!!! keep it silly.....I have printed alot of material of the net to keep track of my collection though....
 
I look at toy soldier flyers, catalogs, magazines more than my collection. For me, these publications are collectibles in their own right. I read that Trophy catalogs are worth big $$.
 
Most people still like to have a book or magazine in there hands.That's why e-books haven't caught on that much.I read a book online that I couldn't find in book form and it was really unjoyable.

The rumor I heard was...

he gave up his "Jenkins" franchise....not his business...

but his agreement to sell Jenkins...

no sources...

but I heard he felt he got into the Jenkins business too late and all the Jenkins customers had dealers they were loyal to...making it hard to be lucrative for him...

just a rumor...

About a year ago, Michael Cross offered in this forum an online color catalog of John's sets up to that time. I thought the catalog was very well done. Also, Andrew Montgomery offered a comprehensive list of John's sets, again current at the time he offered his list. I found both documents very useful (and enjoyable). Perhaps either or both of those individuals would again offer updated versions of their work?

Mark...I'm sorry...this comment was a clarification for Fraxinus aka Ken...when you had repied to his Frontline query...you had use his quote and I inadvertently thought it was a question posed by you that my answer was for...sorry Mark

John...those would be pretty much outdated by now...I never got one...but I heard they were good...I'm like Combat aka Doug...I would like a paper copy for quick references instead of searching the Internet for info...a "hard copy" would be nice...

can anybody come up with anymore info they would like in one?

Peter....you got a nice website...I have been on it before...and just logged in again...very comprehensive...great job...are the QR's on there...I can't find them?
