This is a nice sculpt. Appears to be the Crow chief that signals to Jeremiah Johnson(the movie version), that the feud between the Crows and Johnson is over.

In the real story of "Liver Eating" Johnson, or "Crow Killer" as he was called, Johnson was the one who decided to call off his vendetta. He simply appears from the trees on horseback to the surprise of Grey Bear, of the Crows.
Who immediately prepares for combat, until Johnson signals he wishes peace.
The Crows had treated the burial of the "Crazy Woman" whom Johnson cared for with respect, and honor.
So he felt the feud had gone on long enough.

I'm interested to see how the trappers dress and equipment is depicted. and I hope they depict the fine Hawken rifles with some thoughtfulness.
And the Crows were known for some very fine beadwork, and buckskin clothing.lots of colors are not to be ignored.

That figure is extreamly well sculpted and animated. John has done a super figure for the start of an series. The options are open for both the American and Canadian old west. Not battle scenes but how to portray the emergence of the cultures in a more peaceful relationship. Whisky traders, RNWMP and gold rush are all open for discussion. I do believe that his figures will encumpance these. A small diorama of these type of figures would be both pleasing to female and children. Many of the displays in my cabinets contain figures that depict past days not in a agreesive mode.

I look at what my grandchildren watch on TV and games, they have no interest in historical past.

Maybe I was like that when I was young, but remember when my grandfather took me to the veterans hospital and experienced talking to those who went through WW1. But then I did not have the benefit of todays multi median.

I look forward to John’s venture into this period.

I hope you are right...that is a very good thing...like Snow Shoes...no duplicates...all figures are one off...

Getting rid of the Snowshoes range is the one I most regret getting rid of. I see a lot of sets on ebay but they are quite high in price.

Just received my Moccasin Maintenance group, and it makes a great group for the Indian Mountain Man.

John did a real great sculpt of the figures, it was a pleasure to paint the mounted figure. I wonder what the production figure will look like.

Need a North West Mounted Police in white home service helmet and red serge.
