If you like Wayne's version of "The Alamo" as much as I do, you will be interested in the book "John Wayne's The Alamo; The Making of an Epic Film" by Donald Clark and Christopher Andersen. It is a 172 page softcover book published in 1995 by Citadel Press. The book covers all aspects of the film from Wayne's original ideas, finances, casting, shooting, post-production, premier, and restoration. It is full of anecdotes and is heavily illustrated. I found it incredibly interesting and well worth the purchase price of $18 (at the time). -- Al

I also have this book and I agree it is worth having. Not easy to find now though I think.

Yikes! Walt, I looked this up as it never occurred to me it would be hard to find. 6 listings on Abebooks ranging from $50 up to $148. 7 listings on Amazon from $66 up to $151. It sure is expensive. Might go for $50 if I had to have it but the $100+ prices are insane. -- Al

I got mine when it was still easily available. I am surprised you found it at all.
can't remember what mine cost so it must have been very affordable when I got it.
