Forum member, Julian, sent me some pictures of his Hiriart collection that I thought I would share with you. He has been buying them, at about one set at a time, from Buzz Thorpe at the Michigan Toy Soldier Show. Many of his Hiriart sets are the older versions that came with ten figures rather than with the nine figure sets that are now the standard. The first photo shows set 1047 WWII LUFTWAFFE FLAK TROOPS. The Luftwaffe pilot in the photo came from set 1232 WWII BATTLE FOR ENGLAND. I have also attached a stock photo of the same set as produced today.

This photo is of set 1195 WWII WEHRMACHT ALTE KAMERADEN BAND. The two personality figures are from other sets. Again, I have attached a stock photo of the set.

The third photo of Julian's collection shows set 1279 WWII PANZER II, EUROPE in the center. Behind that set is 1146 BERLIN INFANTERIE. On the left is set 1190 WWII MOTORRAD WEHRMACHT. Interspersed among those sets are figures from set 1056 WWII OKW GENERAL STAFF OFFICERS.

Thanks JB. It is interesting to see the evolution from Julian's earlier Hiriart sets to today's offerings. I would love to see your German Band when you ultimately get around to making it.

I have quite a few projects awaiting Mike - but I will do one eventually. I suppose you have seen this one, which I showed a while ago? It is a German band - but not the regular Werhmacht troops - but an SS one that I made up from bits and pieces of castings from Dorset Soldiers. The donor figure was originally a Roumanian Soldier - with different heads/arms and sundries used from other figures.

No, I haven't seen this band before, JB. Very nice indeed and with an unusual Romanian progeny. On my 2014 order with Hiriart, I am going to order several bands for my collection including the British Red Devils, the Chilean Air Force, Pershing's Own, and a non-catalog SS band as per the attached photo.

Here is another Hiriart set from Julian's collection. It is set 1129 WWII ROYAL NAVY WITH CHURCHILL. His ten figure version appears to have come with an officer, Churchill, and eight men. I have attached a photo of the set as it is now comprised which includes a 1/750th scale destroyer.

This is the final photo from Julian's Hiriart collection: it is set 1184 WWI SEAFORTH HIGHLANDERS, 1914. It is also the only non-World War II set in his Hiriart collection. He is in the process of adding World War I sets to his collection including Hiriart sets 1327 WWI AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN HUSSARS, 1914 and 1328 WWI AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN DRAGOONS, 1914. I have attached a stock photo of the Seaforth's set which represents how it is currently comprised with a piper that is not present in Julian's earlier version. The uniforms in the newer version also seems to be less brown than in the current version.

Nice collection, Julian. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Here is one more photo which barely shows (left rear) two Hiriart Austro-Hungarian Dragoons in 1914. They are from Hiriart set 1328 WWI AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN DRAGOONS, 1914. I have attached a stock photo of this set so you can see it all. On my current Hiriart order, I have requested a special double set of these Dragoons with an officer, bugler, flag, and 7 men for my collection.

The other troops in Julian's photo are various Bastion Models eight-figure sets of Bosnians, Austrian Mountain Infantry, Austria & Hungarian Line Infantry Regiments, and sailors from the Boxer Rebellion. The WWI Austrian Infantry sets (right rear), in grey, are from Doppel Adler Soldaten. I also have a set of their Bosnians in my collection.
