Watching a Clark Gable film this AM, called 'They Met in Bombay, made in 1941. It involves the outbreak of WW2 in the far east, with the British Empire vs the Japanese. The movie is typical of this era in that Hollywood has dressed and armed the Japanese in whatever they thought looked right/good for enemy troops. My whole point to this post is the Japanese troops were all wearing the German Stahlhelm of WW1, the one with the lugs on the sides. Ok, maybe Hollywood had no idea what a Japanese helmet looked like, or access to something that might look correct, but the solution was to have ALL of the troops wearing these helmets BACKWARDS. It was hysterical looking and kind of ruined the tone of the combat scenes. Hollywood...never at a loss for the ridiculous.:wink2: -- Al

They didn't have Google in 1941. The 1941 audience didn't know the difference, so movies were made
to exploit what would sell. Historical accuracy seldom gets in the way of entertainment. Nothing has
changed in that regard. You still watched it------now that is a "hoot.":smile2:

Do you really think people in 1813 England wore big ankle length black coats as it "Taboo"? Nah, but" Woverine"
made it attractive with certain a demographic.

Yesterday, I caught the last 30-minutes of "The Enemy Below" starring Robert Mitchum. The ending has the destroyer ramming the German submarine. A lot of times you see an old movie as a kid, thought it was great, but when you watch it now, its kind of junk. Well, this movie was good then and still is.
