Guys,

Just got 4 of the French guard figures and they are the best TS figures outside of FL that I have seen. Quality/value ratio is through the roof. I now probably have to begin collecting this range even though I probably can't afford it.

I have an observation about them however that will open up one of those ugly scale discussions but I owe it to my fellow collectors. They are BIG. They are larger than TGM WWII figures and it is not just the hat on the guardsmen. They don't line up chin to chin. I PREFER THEM THIS SIZE, THEY ARE HEAVY, STURDY DETAILED AND PROBABLY LESS PRONE TO BREAKAGE DURING SHIPPING. They are also well packaged and of course Tim and Gordon at Troops of Time always do a great job packing and shipping. HOWEVER, THOSE WHO WANT TO MIX AND MATCH WITH K&C BETTER THINK TWICE.

All of this scale stuff doesn't really bother me because I generally do not mix manufacturers.HOWEVER I DO HOPE THAT WITHIN THIS RANGE TGM KEEPS TO THIS SCALE/SIZE WITH FUTURE RELEASES OF DIFFERENT NATIONS/UNITS. The only situation that troubles me is when figures who appear on the same battlefield/diorama with each other are mismatched in scale.

The bottom line is these FIGURES ARE AMAZING:pOSING, SCULPTING AND PAINTING ARE TOP NOTCH. The different color options on the campaign trousers is a great idea. All things considered TGM has quickly climbed to the top of the heap in this hobby. GREAT JOB.

To add to that, TG WWII Germans blend great with K&C.....Same size. Go figure ???

I've got all of the TGM Grenadiers of the Imperial Guard, and have them displayed with the firing / advancing figures from K&C but I didn't really notice a huge size difference.

If I get some time tomorrow, its my day off :), I'll take some images and post them for all to see.

What I do like with TGM is the little extras added to the equipment, like waterbottles, loaves of bread strapped to the pack, kindling wood for the campfire, bandaged hands, and patches on the trousers, so they look like 'real soldiers' in the field.

By all means I love parade ground figures, but not in battle....

My 95th Rifles are in transit and hopefully will arrive later this week, then I'll add comments on TGM Naps...

John,
I nearly tripped over the rather large parcel headed your way at the shop the other day, you will be happy with it's contents, we spent sometime admiring the 95th rifle figures and I must say I almost got some myself.. almost, wrong era for me but very nice just the same, I''ll be happy for sure.
Wayne.

John...
As per usual on a Thrusday night confusion abounded at the 'Ye old toy shop' with Brett all a tither about the 95th Rifles until your goodself put him right I heard later, worry not, your parcel suffered no 'KICKING' but you may have to wipe the Nappy people's (Jack and Phil) drool from the box......:wink2::{sm4}Wayne.

Just adore the TGM Naps - I have them all and they are poetry in motion; well-fed strongmen of the early 19th Century in very dynamic poses. They match well with my later-released French Line Infantry of K&C (while dwarfing somewhat my dismounted Dragoons) - but then the Old Guard were six-footers in an age of five-foot-six averages so this is hardly disturbing. The 95th Rifles are worthy representatives of the Regiment's fame. It is good to see a move towards representing something less than the pristine parade-ground uniforms that have dominated TS figures for so long - how about some fatigues and shirt-sleeves to take it just a little further; not just off-parade but also out-of-the-battle-line...thanks for taking the risk TGM.

I completely agree with your view on the 95th. Outstanding group that went through many conflicts with designation. They are still around today but merged with another unit I believe.

I too have purchased these and feel the same way about them.

Would love to see some pictures some time.

As promised, here are some comparison images to show TGM & K&C in similar poses all lined up together.

Yes, TGM are taller, and slightly larger that K&C.

But when posed in a scene I don't think its really a problem... what to you think ?????

One other fine point is that K&C have the correct shaped scolloped white cuff flaps, while TGM has rectangular..... now how is that for 'nit picking' ????

I think they look wonderful together. TG has really come out with great companion pieces that work so well with KC. I just love it. Where one does not go the other does=we get more of what we want!!

It bothered me some .. when the first release of TG's guards did not quite size up with K&C's. However with their second release ... I now have enough of TG's Imperial Guards to form a fighting line all on their own {sm4} and they look a real 'hard fought' and seasoned unit.

Rather than companion releases, I hope that TG's future Naps will strike off on their own, and give collectors fresh units not previously done by K&C.

Well, Well Said!! You are right. Companion was not the right word standing by it's self. TG has taken a wonderful path all of their own. I meant more that they do go well together and mix a compliment one another as companions. I am with you on branching into new regiments....I have had this talk with Thomas!!:)

Thanks,

Ludwig

The TG Naps as you know are in a good box and packed singularly with cut out foam & guns protected in a plastic cylinder, plus Brett packs them in a good cardboard box, hard to imagine too much damage, but Post Office may have to pay if you see external damage. Interested to see how bad this is and why it has happened. Cheers, Robin.

I have to report that a detachment of the 1st and 3rd Battallion, 95th Rifles have arrived safely on 'The Western Front' (of Australia).

They are now enjoying the hospitality of other TGM RHA Rocket Gunners, before having to 'Take Post' in guarding the Rocket Postion in case Napoleon's TGM Old Guard Grenadiers move out of thier defensive position tonight.

Brilliant figures, Tom, keep them NAPs coming :) :)
