As can be well attested, we are all K&C,s #1 fans. But if you collect anything else, what is your favorite.
Mine are Conte plastic playsets, followed by 21st 1-18th figures and vehicles.

Well, my favorite is K & C and my second favorite is K & C, and my third is ....

I would have liked to get interested in the Old Northwest figures but they were a poor substitute. HBJ is a little better but not that much.

Sorry, as the saying more or less goes "once you've seen the rest, now come see the best." I have and that's it.

As stated K&C is #1. Everything else is now considered miscellaneous.

There really can be no comparison to King & Country on the subjects that King & Country covers. However, in the area of World War I, where Andy has only produced a half a dozen Warbirds and four Flying Aces pilot figures, I like what Tommy Atkins has done. I also like Tommy Atkins Jacobites from Culloden, which Andy has not done. Finally, I like the big boats Trophy did like the Nile River Steamer, and the Civil War Gunboats Eagle and Leopard (the only non-K&C pieces on display in my apartment).

As far as true collectibles, of course it's K&C. As far as pure pleasure, it would be my "customs". I enjoy redetailing/modifying 1/32nd scale figures from 21C/Airfix (soft and Multipose), Marx, etc. I modify some poses, add ammo belts, change weaopns to better detailed versions, and change heads/hand to ones from Airfix Multipose. They aren't perfect, and my painting isn't as neat as it should be, but I enjoy the creativity involved.

I wish I could just stick to collecting one thing but no there's too much other stuff out there.K&C is strickly my toy soldier collection but I have some other stuff that I will definately display when I get the room.I'm not sure if anyone else has these but Dinky made some nice sets of the 88 where the wheels came off and the gun could be lowered and raised.I also have a Dinky Kubelwagon towing a Pak 40 which is really nicely done. All die-cast.I also like the Dragon 1/72 armour and once they move on from replicating the Tiger and King Tiger things look really interesting.I also started collecting the History Channel warbirds which display really well.Lastly I have a whole slew of farm toys to kind really mix things up.Yeah I'm an addict.Thats the first step right, admitting to your problem!!!!

I notice a lot of references to Dragon vehicles. Let me know if you want me to add any new categories to the forum list. Maybe one for oldies but goodies (antiques)? Other scales? Bygone manufacturers? Cottage industry favorites? Conversions? Plastics? I'm game--just let me know.

I collect all metal 1/32 WWII figures but I guess my second favorite is not metal but plastic. I like to build and paint them in 1/32 or 1/35.

That would be cool. I collect Dragon 1/72 scale tanks and build Dragon kits. :)

How about firearms? Anyone collect H&K the most accurate firearms out of the box you have ever seen. Or Benelli shotguns which are also terrific. Their rolling-block shotgun can fire 5 rounds in 1 second. It is capable of placing more buckshot a city block away then most machine guns. (500 pellets vs 13.333 rounds @ 800 per minute)
Now for you northern guys (like I used to be) down south here you walk into your local drug store. Ask for a pack of gum, a comb, and that there 44 mag-num and say 500 rounds of amoh.
Clerks simply going to ask you ifin you want holla points?
Its not really that bad, but you can get a concealed carry permit pretty darn easily.
Njja

I'm a collector of WW2 toys i guess.
I like Dragon's 1/6th range because of the detail that goes into the uniforms and equipment. Just open up their Soldat range boxes and the detail really hits you.

I like Dragon's 1/70 range of tanks because they are cheap and small and very collectable

Forces of Valor 1/32 tanks are just amazing for detail combined with price.

King and Country i've only been collecting since the start of 2005 but i have to be careful as it could become a major addiction.

Last year i bought the set of Corgi D-day releases in the card ammo boxes and i like the look of the scenics they are bringing out.

The vast majority of my collection is left over from my childhood. I grew up in the 70's which was a bit of a golden age here in the UK for WW2 toys. My mom and gran were kind enough to make sure i had the entire set of various Airfix 1/32 figures, Matchbox 1/32figures and Britains deetail. Thankfully when all my other toys were given away i decided to keep the toy soldiers. They were stored in the deepest recesses of my nan's loft for at least 20years until she passed away last year and i stumbled upon them whilst clearing up. It was amazing to find them still in immaculate condition and i soon rediscovered the joy of collecting ww2 toys.

My favourites are the Britains deetail figures. I love the Afrika Korps kubelwagen and BMW combination and the 8th Army figures. I also have the Deetail Foreign Legion and Arabs set which makes a really colourful and interesting display.

Special mention also goes to the Airfix German paratroopers which come in around 14 different poses. They really are amazing.

The only toy i'm missing from my childhood that i gave away and really wish i'd kept was the Airfix Thompson submachine gun. I can't remember what scale it was but it seemd lifesize (lol) to me at the time. It had a magazine and plastic bullets you could fire. I also had the Aifix FN rifle with detachable magazine and bayonet. They really were incredible toys and i imagine very rare today.

Anyway sorry if i strayed off topic bur i got away a bit. It's rare i get chance to discuss these things with like minded folks!

The KC sets are great for the price, but the AeroArt St. Petersburg figures are top of the line. They only have a few WWII figures but they are great. Hitler, Mussolini, Patton, Stalin, Zhukov etc.

If you look at the old flyers, you will see that King & Country used to distribute St. Petersburg figures.

I've seen the Churchill figure in Harvey Hammer's house (h.hammer on this board) and it's quite superb. I'd love to get it but it's OOP.

That's the thing with St. Petersburg - they don't produce toy soldiers, they produce museum quality military miniatures, at a commensurate price. For what it costs for one St. Petersburg figure, you can by a set or two of K&C figures. I don't think the difference in quality merits a price that much higher.

You can buy the Pegaso metal kit and have someone paint it for you.

The prices on the St. Petersburg figures keep going up. So someone must be buying them. The Russian dealer has a much wider line of WW II figures than Thor if anyone is interested. They just recently added this figure of Patton:

http://www.soldiers-russia.com/20century/general_patton.htm

I have ordered several figures from them without any problems.

The Patton figure is amazing, but at $295 I can have 3+ sets of K&C. If you want to set up any kind of diorama or display, St. Petersburg's prices are just prohibative.

I looked at all the figures and they're all pretty amazing but too expensive. However, I've got a question. This is all St. Petersburg isn't it or is this from different Russian artists? How does that all work exactly?
