K&C and Dept 56 Palm Trees for AK Display (1 Viewer)

Some me have noticed K&C uses Dept 56 diorama for display in previous posters, especially AK.

Those Dept 56 palm trees are still standing in K&C's Hong Kong shop display.

I've never seen other Palm Trees in person, such as JG and Buildarama.

In the photos, Buildarama palm trees look crap, only very few branches and the trunk looks very fake.

Some other mentioned JG Palm tree is accurate for North Afrika and superb in quality, but for the same price I can get a set of 3 trees from dept 56.

How much better is JG palm vs. Dept 56?

ALSO, does Dept 56 civilians match K&C in scale?

I just posted the question about the palms in the gen discussion forum. I've seen the JG in person at the Gettysburg show, and they look great. I havent seen the 56 palms in person, but a lot of people use them in dios, so that has to say something. Plus if you dont want to spend too much, the 56 are the way to go, but they are retired, but not impossible to find.

Dept 56 has made different palm trees over the years so I'm not sure which ones you are referring to but I have a very nice set of resin palm trees they did a few years ago and I think they look great with K&C AK.. I haven't seen any JG or buildarama trees so I can't speak to their appearance. Dept 56 also has some very nice winter trees that work well with BOB dioramas.

I use both Dept 56 and JG in my diorama. The old Dept 56 resine palm trees are great, the latest ones that combine a resine trunk and fabric leaves I don't like that much. I love the JG palm trees, I have the older type and the new type. I like both, they look realistic, but they are more fragile and have to be handled with more care. Price wise, however, I think Dept 56 offers a better deal while maintaining a good quality.

Thanks guys. I just got some Dept 56 Old town of Bethlehem palm trees from ebay. They are the ones that K&C shop/posters used.

How about the dept 56 figures? I am looking for Arab civilians that match K&C figures in scale.

I have both the old and new versions of the palms and love both. Some go well with the Crusaders and the others with the Iwo Jima line.
