The new french line infantry Shako had a RED top band around it. From all the reference photos I don't see a RED band except for the grenadiers.

So do the new line infantry guys belong to the grenadiers and fusiliers?

Thanks

The epaulettes are red so they have to be Grenadiers.

They also had a red band on the shako, but not always present.

The red pop-pom is also Grenadiers, but I'm not sure about the blue bit, maybe someone can enlighten you?

Thanks John

But from my references (Osprey, Europa and Rousslet's dictionary), the Grenadier's Shako would have red chords and chervons. There maybe a short battlefield red plume on top of the pompon.

However, the K&C line infantry had a short 'blue' plume surmounted on a red pompon. Any references to that?

The pompon represents the company color. Red = Grenadier. Green, blue, orange etc for fusiliers. Yellow for voltugliers.
