I was looking on e-bay and there are some British Bengal Lancers up for auction with Frontline boxes. Are these really K&C because I'm not to familiar with all of their early stuff.

I think it is a Frontline figure in a Frontline box. It looks like Frontline's British Bengal Lancers (Skinners Horse) in Campaign Dress: SKC1.:)

I would defer to Louis and Larry Lo on this but I'm quite sure they're not. K and C did not come in Frontline boxes. Also, the boxes look like they're of recent vintage but I'm no Frontline expert so I could be wrong.

They are definitely Frontline, not K&C. Back in the 1980's K&C and Frontline shared a sculpter and maybe K&C sold Frontline products from their first store. That would explain the item description.

I find iteams on ebay listed all the time as K&C/frontlines, Britains/frontline, britains/king and country ect. I think a lot of guys just add that in to get listed under both the pages of K&C and frontline and to maybe get a few extra veiws from potential buyers and there may be a few that just don,t know any better or think that the K&C page might get more views then the frontline page or make a collector think that this is a rare K&C piece that they,ve never seen??? This happens all the time on ebay and I,m sure for many different reasons but you,ll see munch more of this on there as it happens all the time.

Fish,

I know what you're talking about; it's form of spamming, to draw in the K & C customer. However, I don't think that's the case here. Probably, just a honest mistake.

I already told the seller they're not K & C and he says he will make the corrections.

Frontline, a subject not likely to bring a smile to his lips

Hi Guys,

Over the years there has been a spirit of healthy competition between ourselves and the guys at Frontline, Howard and Gerard.

Some of you might even know that in the earliest days of K&C we employed the boys as “freelance sculptors” — our designs...their sculpts. At that same time they were also starting “Frontline” and producing their own figures which we did indeed sell in our very first K&C store in Hong Kong.

After a few years our ways parted although we still caught up with each other at the LA and Chicago Shows. It’s fair to say that both “Frontline” and “King & Country” were the two “pioneers” of the China made, new toy soldier as its known today.

As some of you also know Howard Swales, Cofounder with Gerard Prime of “Frontline”, sadly passed away a couple of months ago after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Gordon and myself attended his funeral both as an act of respect and as a tribute to Howard’s talents and skills in the early days of K&C and beyond. Even today we still have a friendly commercial rivalry but on a social level get on extremely well. My brother Gordon and Gerard of “Frontline” are neighbours and best friends on the island of Lamma just off the coast of Hong Kong.

One other point I must make is that “Frontline’s” Charge of the Light Brigade series (first introduced back in 1994) was one of the pivotal turning points in the history of K&C...

But that, as they say, is another story...

Best wishes and...happy collecting!

Andy C.

P.S. I’m off to Bangkok this afternoon so don’t worry if you don’t hear anything for a few days...or get an answer to any queries.
