Ok Guys, what will you be purchasing from the tables of K&C on the 6th December and how many of you guys will be at evening event?.

I am really after a Stug this time ,probably the AK version,i'm also picking up the retiring Bulge tractor. I might also branch out into a new range and buy the first four figures of the WW1 series.

Rob

I just started the WW 1 series and you will not be disappointed. They are great.

I'd really like to have those new D-Day French stuff like the tank destroyer.

I've wanted to start this range for ages but always seem to get sidetracked into WW2.Tony from K&C displays these figures on an excellant trench/no mans land dio and i think this time i may cave and get them.I've also got my eyes on that Grey Kubelwagon as i think it may retire soon.

I'll definitely second that recommendation for the K&C's Great War range, Rob. Only have two figures from each side, but they are extremely nice. For something that's a pleasant change from the Second World War, but isn't a million miles away at the same time, it's worth considering. The range isn't exactly huge at the moment either, so playing catch up shouldn't pose too much of a problem.

To answer your original question - unfortunately I don't think I'll be at this year's Christmas event:(. Got the leaflet in the post from K&C UK last week and I will admit to being extremely tempted. However, that weekend is slap-bang in the middle of my Christmas exams, not to mention being the weekend of my second anniversary with Mrs. Molloy, so I reckon I'd be shot if I attempted to turn it into a toy soldier junket to London.

Really have to make it to one of these UK shows soon though - roll on March or June I suppose!

Molloy.

Well i think you got your priorities right mate, your exams and keeping the missus happy have got to come first. As you say theres always next year.

Yes you make a good point about catching up on the WW1 releases, shouldn't be too hard.I think i'll start with the first four German figures,Kaiser and friends. My first 'Collecting love' was always WW1 and i think this 90th Anniversary of the Armistice coupled with the fact that i'm returning to the Battlefields next year, has reignited my collecting interest.Just what i need,WW1 and WW2 to collect!;)

He, he, true that! Maybe 2009 will be the year I finally get over there. I wouldn't mind but I've already been to London once already this year, complete with the obligatory trips to the top floor of Hamleys and the Changing of the Guard - it was in August though so right between shows.

Yes, there don't seem to sufficient numbers in the WWI range as it is to neccessitate any imminent retirements (fingers crossed!). The KOSB figures are particularly nice as well - interestingly enough, it was from here in Dublin that the 2nd Battalion of that Regiment embarked to cross to France in August 1914; not quite sure which barracks in the city they were based in.

So you're heading over to the battlefields next year?

Its always the way isn't it,right between the shows!

Yes we normally go every year but didn't get the chance this year.So next summer we are heading down to Verdun (taking in Disneyland on the way..i don't think me and the missus will ever truly grow up!;))and then back up to the Somme and Ypres for a few days.Theres new trenches and dugouts, museums memorials springing up all over the western front.I like to lay a wreath in the Sunken lane on the Somme, its my favourite place on that battlefield and really moves me everytime we visit. Its hard to imagine that in this nondescript, benign looking lane such an awful event happened on the morning of the 1st July 1916.To stand in the lane that was by 8am that morning full of dead and wounded is truly a sobering experience.

Then we will go up to the Ypres sector loads to see up there and also pay our respects to my wifes great grandfather who is buried near Ploegsteert wood.Couple of days in that area then back to Calais and the tunnel.

I posted some pics of my trip to Normandy last year so will do the same with this visit.

I am with Harrie Normandy (1944) on the toyshow and am also iduring the evening
Look for a few models of the Crimean war and to JGM.

A friend of mine will be buying the new Crimea releases & some JGminiatures stuff for me. I need some extra road and rubble for my Arnhem house.

Also I'm toying with the idea to start the Arnhem KC range to gether with the JGminiature releases.

Of course anything i say i'm going to buy is not forgetting the fact i havn't seen the King Tiger yet and will probably fold like a cheap deck chair and buy it!;)

Each time i go to these shows theres more for me to check out.As well as K&C I'm going to be visiting JG Miniatures,TM Terrain,Figarti,Britains,JJ,Asset,Treefrog,Toy soldier collector and also looking at some 1/72 plastic figure stallholders.

Shows get you in trouble dont they? :D

They sure do!.;)

When i was a kid and collected Action Man the choice of uniforms and equip was huge and i never knew what to buy next. Here i am more than 35 yrs later and again i'm so spoilt for choice i don't know what to buy!.When you walk into the Hotel and see K&C UK's tables all laid out in front of you its just so hard to choose,i admire anyone who has a purchasing plan and can really stick to it.

Not forgetting this year there are reinactors, afternoon panel question time, and then the K&C UK evening event. Britains global club event the night before!

This will make it even harder to keep a clear plan on what you are doing...................i think it is going to be one of the best shows..............oh and not forgetting the mince pies!!!

Whisky no problems as well

Sammy, its a small spicy/sweet pie served at Xmas with cream or a hot drink.Especially nice if Tony is handing them out with whisky

As Rob said (mince, short for mincemeat, made up mainly of raisins) in a pastry shell (like a buttertart) Some people leave open, some make a pastry lid and dust with icing suger and some leave open and drizzle with icing. I am fortunate my mum is a great cook and makes all of the 3 mentioned which are scrumptious I might add. Which reminds me I must give her a buzz and see if she has started her xmas baking yet :D :D :D :D
