Hi all,

Happy Memorial Day. I've unfortunately been laid up sick for the past few days not really appreciating the three-day weekend. Today I mustered up some energy to set up a small D-Day diorama on my tabletop. For those of you who remember Marx, this would be a King & Country rendition of the old Marx Battlefield play set (plus a few extra pieces). It was actually fun to lay out the pieces picking the various items pictured. It's sort of a "Zen Garden" being therapeutic as one arranges the soldiers and vehicles.

Rob this is the best tonic to get better, by doing diorama's and these should make you feel a lot better. Robin.

I practice the Dharma and I love the toysoldier hobby, but I would have never thought to put the 2 things together. {sm4}
By the way,I have to admit that this hobby, modelling, creating a diorama is an activity that increases the concentration, the precision, the patience, the observation, the mind emptiness...So, indirectly, there is a link...

PS: I never heard of the " memorial day". I discover this today..

It used to be called Decoration Day, where you would "decorate" the graves of fallen soldiers. It is said to have begun around the time of the Civil War.

Exactly right I believe it was 1868. John Logan commander of the GAR started it.
