First and foremost, an exceptionally well researched and executed model. Major kudos.
For those few who may be interested the following historical data and maintenance tip are offered regarding the “Desert Rolls Royce Armoured Car”.
The tactical markings on the car are of the 1st Royal Tank Regiment, 7th Armoured Division in Egypt 1940, before the incorporation of the jerboa (desert rat) into the division’s insigne. Source: Armoured Fighting Vehicles in Profile (AFV’s of the World Series), Vol. 3 British and Commonwealth AFV’s 1940-1946, M. Lee, Profile Publications Ltd., Windsor, Berkshire, 1971, p.36 (same markings on A9 Cruiser Tank). For the real “rivet counters” seeking additional excruciating details, see Armoured Fighting Vehicles in Profile (AFV’s of the World Series), Vol. 2 British and Commonwealth AFV’s 1919/1940, Profile Publications Ltd., Windsor, Berkshire, 1970, Chapter on Armoured Car Development in the Inter-War Years by MGen N.W. Duncan and Chapter on British Armoured Units and Armoured Formations (1919-1940), by Duncan Crow (Late 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards).
The maintenance tip is to cut a circular piece of thin food storage plastic, i.e. saran wrap, slightly larger in diameter than the base of turret assembly. Carefully wrap the piece of plastic around the bottom of the base and slide it into the top of the car. This will prevent paint wear between surfaces, take up the tolerance in the fitment, and provide smoother rotation of the turret.
