We don't have a lot down here in South Jersey about collectibles but I read yesterday about an auction in late September in Vineland at Bertoia's Auction House. It was the second of 5 auctions of the Donald Kaufman Collection.Kaufman was co-founder of KB Toys and in 1950 started collecting vintage toy cars among other types of toys.He sold KB in 1981 and devoted his time to his collection. In time he amassed over 7000 pieces. This past March he had his first auction and sold over 1400 pieces. In the last auction they sold 1100 pieces for over $3,000,000Who said toys were for kids uh.Collectors from all over the world came including David Pressland of London, one of the world's largest toy collectors. For anybody who would like to read the article about it go to www.thedailyjournal.com. Go to the search area, local news and type in bidders in toyland. They have a nice article and a gallery of 40 pictures. You should see some of these toy cars. Some are from the 1920's, some are quite large. They are really cool. There is also some antique planes too.I know alot of you collect other things besides toy soldiers so I thought this would be interesting to some of you.
