Just a heads up for you diorama enthusiasts! Treefrog now carries the Killing Field Diorama mats that measure 4 feet x 6 feet in size!
Great for a full tabletop display, tabletop or wargaming or to even just cut into smaller sections for your shelves! At $75 each, they are a great value.

I have one of these and they are great. The grass feels much better than BAR Mats. It’s brushable as well, to change the grain. And not to mention HUGE! For $75 you easily can make a few smaller mats out of it if you don’t need the whole thing.
For pictures, it’s the mat used in jjd war of the roses scenes posted here.

Do you think that there will be a similar mat that has shorter grass? :rolleyes2:

I have a problem with figures balancing (or staying upright) with tall grass. I have trimmed some BAR mats and used the trimmings to hide bases an such but it is not the best answer.

Best guess????

Larry, I bought this yesterday for that exact problem. If a figure is in a slanted pose they are always falling over and it drives me nuts. And I've tried both companys matts Bar and JG.
The website for the manufacture say its designed for 28mm figures so i was hoping it was a bit shorter. It should be there when I get home tomorrow, I can shoot some pics and see if they stand up better.

As it’s softer, it can lay flatter which helps.
I have all the JJD war of the roses in it and no one falls over. That being said, you have to make the call

Zach, did you try giving them less to drink before the battle? Doesn’t work on German Troop’s, but others should be fine.

The mat was here when I arrived home so I tried 3 figures of what I know will not stay on the other companys mats. A JJ , a Conte and Wbrit that all lean heavy to one side and a WP figure cause it doesn't have home yet.
Unfortunately none of the figures that lean would stand. The WP worked fine like most figures that are straight. But no dice for the other three.

The coloring is as good as the other mats I have, so the price is good considering the over all size.

Thanks you for the test and the feedback … even if it wasn't able to hold the figures.
A good many of my K&C AWI sets are a bit wobbly on thick grass mats, especially the flag bearers and the figures that are in action. Marching figures are okay.

Oh Well!

As I mentioned I have trimmed the height of the grass and then use the trimmings to hide the base, sprinkle around the setting to simulate cut hay etc.

The cost is right so maybe that extra bit of work on a cheaper mat is worth the effort ..:rolleyes2:

He is working on a few more mats for the future! Once they are ready to roll out I will post them on the site and here.
I will ask about a shorter grass mat.

Many Thanks, Julie.

Food for thought ... with the huge upswing of Jungle and Beach scenes (due to the Release of the T.G Japanese sets, K&C USMC and Japanese, the Burma and CBI theater sets from Ready4Action sets ...more) maybe mats that would fit those areas ... ????^&confuse

More of these Terrain Mats are in stock again! He did change the size to 5'x 7' now! And the grass is a bit shorter. Still great to cut to size as you need or use for table top war gaming!
A great deal no matter what you want to use it for.
