Greetings everyone, Im kind of new to the forum, although we posted a bit in the past. My son and I have quite a bit of the American Revolution series by WBritains, but not much more yet. I am writing today, as I am looking for info on any Boy Scout sets. I know they were made long, long ago maybe pre-war? As my son is a scout, i thought they might be interesting to collect if they can be found. Im not even sure if they are/were Britains.

I have seen a few on the auction site, but have yet to pursue any. Any info at all, even redirection if necessary is appreciated.

Regards, Sean:)

Welcome Sean, Ryan & Tim,

There were a number of different Boy Scout figures made prewar and I think they carried on postwar as well. I am not at home but I can if you like scan a page or two of the figures that were available.

Cheers

Scott

Hi Sean,

They did a really large Scout set a long time back starting in 1914 till 1939 they had the following sets available:

161 Scout Master with Scouts
162 Boy Scout Display, Scout Master, Scouts, a tree, a gate and hurdles
163 Boy Scout Signallers (scouts with signal flags)

180 Boy Scout Display Scout master, 8 Scouts in various poses, 3 trees, 2 carts, 2 ladders

181 Large Boy Scout display Which was all of the aforementioned sets in one large box. Scout master, 2 patrol leaders, 6 marching scouts, 6 Standing Scouts some with axes, 2 Kneeling scouts with axes, 2 signallers 2 scouts to pull the carts, 2 carts three trees etc

423 was a 10 figure set introduced in 1930 similar to set 161

1761 1 hiking scout with a tent

They came out after the 2nd War in 1954 after a break in making them starting in 1939. In 1996 scouts made an apparence in a 2 figure limited edition set 5971 of 2 scouts marching with the flags. 1997 set 3079 came out of two Cub Scouts one saluting and one with the Cub Scout Flag. I have seen the large set from before the war come up for auction but this is a rather rare occurance. If you are serious about getting the older sets contact Mr Norman Joplin he is a member here and he runs an auction service dealing in the vintage Britains and other companies, he maybe able to help otherwise keep an eye open on ebay who knows maybe you'll score!

Hope this info helps from another Scouting dad.

All the best

Dave
