I have started this thread to talk about the King Country figures and dealers at Toy Soldier Shows throughout the World.

Today - I was at Annadale, Virginia and had the chace to meet George with Minuteman Soldiers - he was great. What a wonderful dealer and a kinda of guy who you would want to have a beer with.

George must have did well today because it was just him and Hobby Bunker at the Show selling King and Country. He had some great displays.

But, here the real dirt for the forum - I saw a picture of George's Girlfriend and she is TOTALLY HOT - I MEAN PERFECT 10  :D

George is living the dream - Selling King and Country Toy Soldiers and coming home to a total babe - WOW!!

Small - but, great show today.

Ron-
Were the Aeroart folks there? I know they usually attend and their display is fantastic.

Ron,

I would be interested to know what additional dealers were in attendance. Also, do you have a feel for what products the other dealers were selling?

Yes, George is a great guy. He has been most helpful to me.

It was really a small show - maybe about 20 dealers. Hobby Bunker and George were the only King and County dealers and they both were selling John Jenkins (and yes - I did buy a set - I am out of control  )
There were HB, Figs and ONWC stuff - Also a good amount of Conte too.

Books and Mags and etc.........

Nice break for a Saturday - nothing outstanding - Atlanta was probally was much bigger and better.

Ron,

Thank you for the response. I am glad to see that I am not the only one out of control. :D I have not yet taken the plunge into John Jenkins, but I assure you that I am looking very closely at the figures. I just dare not add another new liine to those I collect! It is a very good thing that I only attend one show a year.

Again, thanks for the information!

You know - this is going to be a very expensive year for me !

So much good stuff and you want to start on the ground floor with them all.

What are you focusing on with all the new releases? AK, DD, BB ?

Ron,

I am not actively planning on starting any new K&C collections. Presently, the K&C lines I collect are: Battle of the Bulge, Ancient Egyptians, and (gosh, I hate to tell you this ;) ), Napoleonics. I am trying to resist all new lines for obvious budgetary reasons. Perhaps of all the newer items, I am most attracted to the John Jenkins French and Indian War figures.

In addition, I collect many other lines, manufacturers, and time periods. My most recent passion, however, is the Delhi Durbar, which, as you know, K&C does not produce. If K&C were to decide to produce Delhi Durbar figures, I would be doomed forever.

I just put in my French Dragoon Charging at my British Square - it looks great - however, I have to buy my Brits to fill out the square due to the Curio Being so large. Ugh -

I also have a display that is a work in progress of Napoleon in Egypt. I have the Voltigeurs fighting the Mameluke (Saracrens) outside the Egyptian Temple (Temple and Pharaoh Head with a Scaffolding next to it with a French Guard).

The temple is being raided by the French and Guarded by 3rd Reg. of the Line - with a K&C Mummy out in the sun with Napoleon in front inspecting it all.

Of course all complete with some Dept. 54 Palm Trees and a new Camel from the WWII Vichy Collection. Kinda a mixture of several ranges altogether for one scene. It looks great.

Now I understand why you're selling that figure

Nice to have met you at the show Ron. Annandale is small show, it was smaller than usual this year because as Ron pointed out, the nitwits who schedule these things put both shows on during the same weekend. Several dealers who normally do Annandale went to Atlanta, including a K & C dealer who usually does Annandale. Noticed a big spike in sales as a result; with only two of us there, what a difference it makes saleswise.

Most of the other dealers were selling odds and ends from their private collections, there was one large plastic and diecast vehicle dealer there (Sorry, no FOV 81007? Shermans) as well as myself and The Hobby Bunker. There were a couple of dealers selling the high end Russian figures (Aeroart wasn't there).

There is a much larger show in September (the 15th) at the Annandale Community College.

Ron, your going to enjoy the New Jersey show the weekend of the Symposium; it's in a great hotel, a convention center with a lot of heavy hitter dealers there. Maybe I can talk my girlfriend into coming with me, she used to be a Hawiian Tropics model, so why not do the same at a toy soldiers show, I am sure it will draw a crowd at the Minutemen tables.........

Ron,

Your display of Napoleon in Egypt sounds exciting, interesting, and creative. I hope you are able to post some pictures of it sometime. I would really like to see it!
