Fellow Collectors,

Troops of Time in Jacsonville, Florida will be hosting King and Country's Andy Neilson on Saturday October 6, 2012. I suggest trying to attend if you are anywhere in the southeast within driving distance. It will be a rare opportunity for collectors to meet Andy. I can tell you from personal experience that the shop itself is an attraction and Tim Tyler is a wonderful host. It is also a great chance to meet and befriend fellow collectors. He is extending this invitation to all of us whether we buy from him or other dealers. Most of the dealers in this hobby have very cordial relationships if not outright friendships. I know Tim is quite fond of the hosts of this forum and desires to emphasize that all are welcome. He is interested in getting a head count so give him a call if you can make it. The local number is 904-381-6828 and toll-free is 866-601-8192.

I myself would love to attend. I am now living in the North Carolina sandhills area and am just too busy working (in the golf industry down here) and my wife and I are looking for a lot to build a house. I usually make it to Tim's every winter and it is a highlight of my year. Jacksonville is a great town. I can recommend some great restaurants and golf courses since I am an avid eater and golfer as well as TS collector. If you love King and Country do yourself a favor and get there this saturday.

I wish I could make it, however I am currently stuck in California on business. Besides the chance to chat with Andy, I also hate to miss out on the chance to talk to Tim. I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Tim at the Westcoaster a couple of years ago. Over dinner and drinks I got the chance to speak with him on a variety of issues about toy soldiers and beyond. Once you meet him it does not take very long to realize that Tim is a huge credit to the toy soldier collecting community. Despite being a dealer, he really sees things from the collector’s point of view. Again, I am sorry I will miss out, but I am sure anyone who attends will have an incredibly enjoyable experience.

Tim is a dear friend and one of the true gentlemen of this hobby.:smile2: Having a chance to spend time with Tim and Andy is a treat anyone within driving distance should not pass up.:wink2:

I have been planning on attending this since Andy posted about being in Jacksonville a while back. I called Tim yesterday to let him know I'm coming. I've not met either Tim or Andy so I'm looking forward to meeting them both this Saturday.

Duke, I'm quite sure you will be happy when you go. Take a few pics for the forum if possible. :smile2:

I know you'll enjoy meeting them both. Tim is one of the sweetest and nicest guys you'll ever want to meet and Andy's enthusiasm is infectious. He lives, eats and breathes toy soldiers. I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Just got back from Jacksonville and the gathering at Troops of Time. Tim Tyler was a wonderful host and I really enjoyed meeting him, Andy, and other collectors. I was able to speak with Andy for some time and really enjoyed getting his insight into the toy soldier collecting business. He is a great guy and very interesting to talk to. Here are a few pictures of my visit. Group photo is of me, my wife Cynthia, and Andy. Troops of Time is a quaint old house in the riverside area of Jacksonville.

Nice pic's Duke and that is a lovely old house to run the business from. Great that you got to have a long chat to Andy although he can be a chatterbox at times and it's hard to get a word in...:rolleyes2:^&grin Seriously though, he has such a great insight into the hobby and it's great to have a yarn with him.

One day I hope to have the time to attend all the K&C events no matter where they might be held. No surprise, looks like a great time was had by all.

That one may not be far off! My brother is moving to Brisbane for the next 12 months and that may be all the excuse that I need. It would be great to meet you and all the Australian collectors. And of course, I would have the chance to finally collect that Aussie pint Howard has been promising ever since the last Westcoaster!

You might have to change that to "pints" Jason as you'll receive more than one...:wink2:

I have said this many times and I will continually say it, what makes this hobby so great is people like you. I will gladly accept your offer of numerous pints and return the favor if you ever make it out to San Antonio for Texas show or out to Irvine for the Westcoaster.

No worries, done deal Jason and if you go to the Chicago Show next year then the pints will be on the table as it's on my agenda to go.

It was a great time! Getting to meet and talk to Andy was a real honor! He truly is one of the nicest people you could ever meet, he took the time out to talk to everybody there, answered any questions anybody had, took photos (one of which is going to be framed and put on my mantle) and his enthusiasm was truly contagious! Thank you Tim for hosting such a fun event!^&grin

I need to throw my 2 cents in here also, Tim Tyler is a person who truly makes this hobby as enjoyable as it is even better, I have had dealings with Tim for some time now and he always makes it a point to asked about my wife and son and what's going on in my life, he is a busy man but always makes time for some personal conversation as well as the business side of it all, my family and I also had the chance a few years ago to visit Tims shop in Jacksonville and found it to be a great place to browse/buy/and look at some great historical items in his shop as well as toy soldiers, I look forward to visiting Tim and the Troops time shop soon I hope and chating in person with one of the nicest guys you could meet...Sammy
