This section requires little explanation. Points to note are the ball buttons worn on all forms of dress, the officers have foot chains on their spurs, the ORs have straps except for the RSM who has officer's style. Senior NCOs have gold lace, but as their jackets are general issue the gold appears much darker than the bright Lurex type worn by the officers.

Note the mounted RSM. The figure with the Lance is a marker for the musical drive, markers around the course shoe different colour pennants indicating the various stages of the course.

Once a year, when the Household Cavalry pack their buckets and spades and go off to the seaside for their annual holidays King's Troop take over guard duty at Horse Guards. On that occasion only they adopt the colourful saddlecloth seen here.And that brings us to the end of this little exercise, I hope it is of some use. Trooper
