I have always liked kits for their uniqueness in that their is usually not a lot made of each kit and they can be converted and painted to be one of a kind.I don't paint or anything like that but I do buy ^&grin.Over the years I have bought many.I have bought many and sold many without ever opening them up. I would buy all the kits that I could for a period that interested me,would get some painted and sell the rest if I lost interest in that period. I started off with the Crusades and even bought a kit that cost almost $2000 {eek3} .I lost interest after a couple of years but got interested in Vikings I collected them for quite awhile but then my interest went to Woodland Indians and the FIW.I collected them for the longest period but the interest there also waned. Most of the kits that I have had done over the years has ended up with a friend/co-worker.He still loves them. The only one I have left is a LOTM Hawkeye figure from Infinity Shape I believe (pictured,he is painted now. ) But guess what I am hooked again.{eek3}^&grin

I bought 4 kits in the last week. 3 from Beneito Miniatures from Spain and 1 British Cavalryman from Tommy's War in the Uk.The kits I get are 54mm/60mm.The larger ones are quite nice,75mm has become the most popular size but the cost of the kit itself plus the painting of is just too much for me. I have become interested in the late 19th-early 20th cen. periodsThe 4 kits are,
1.2 Spanish Soldiers in Philippines 1896
2.Spanish Soldier in Cuba 1898
3.French Troupes de Marine Soldier in Tonkin 1885
4.British Cavalryman,Warwickshire Yeomanry Palestine 1917

The late Chuck Robinson's remaining inventory, and some of his collection, was auctioned off a couple of weeks ago, Mark. Did you happen to take part? There is a lot of those kits coming on the market now, as guys who had to buy a whole lot to get one or two kits, now sell off those extras. Some of the dealers I follow on eBay bought some of those lots; and some painters/collectors bought some and are selling them on other forums, like PlanetFigure.

I didn't participate because believe it or not, I think I had already cleaned Chuck out for those things I wanted ;)

Prost!

Yes I knew about it but I didn't participate as I looked through all the stuff beforehand on the auction site.Sure will miss Mr. Robinson. He had so many kits and his service was perfect. With him and Colorado Miniatures gone and Michael Roberts also gone there is hardly anyplace in the US to buy from.Of the 4 kits I listed 2 are coming from Spain,1 from the UK and 1 ordered from the Michigan Toy Soldier Co. but they are having less and less kits.

You might want to have a look at Dave Youngquist at Last Cavalry, and Paul Ardeck at Model Cellar, for kits. You're right-with Chuck's passing, the largest figure kit vendor has passed.

Neil Das of Sentinel Miniatures is still in business, too, but he was in a car accident at the end of 2018, and missed every show last year.

But all three-Dave, Paul, and Neil-come to MFCA. Neil does the Long Island Historical Miniatures show, too.

Dave has a YouTube channel and demostrates painting and other techniques, too.

Prost!

Yes I have seen Youngquist's work as he use to be associated with Michigan Toy Soldier Co.I bought off Sentinel a long time ago,I didn't know if they were still around.I don't know if Military Miniatures Warehouse is still open. They use to have a lot of stuff but don't seem to be getting in that much anymore the last time I looked.
